Such a low voter turnout.
130,000 members of tory party have always been a threat to democracy.
Their power to choose leaders or de select MP's who do not obey them is not democratic.
The Tory Party constitution needs changing, once elected MP's represent millions, they should not be controlled by so few.

I hope Badenoch is given her chance and is not replaced before the next election.

SIR – We have been manufacturing farm machinery since 1847, employing about 60 skilled engineers. We are owned by our workforce.Turning over about £10?million, we manage to squeeze out a profit every year, and invest heavily in development, which is why we are still in business. The Budget will increase our employment costs (report, November 1) by £50,000 a year – that's money straight off the bottom line, which HMRC cannot take 25 per cent from by way of corporation tax.Our decision to invest in a new machining centre has now been put on ice, and we await the fallout from our customers, all of whom are farmers. Add to this business rates, ridiculous health and safety requirements, crippling final salary pension fund rules, the price of electricity, and the general interference from government in so many aspects of running a private company, and is it any wonder that manufacturing in the UK is on its knees? In the 47 years I have been a director of the company, I cannot remember having to face such an uncertain future.Anthony BoneChairman, Standen Engineering LtdEly, Cambridgeshire...Daily Telegraph

Looks like the Telegraph is sharing my opinion that this communist government is aiming to destroy the private sector and move towards total state control of employment. Who can stop them in the next 4.5 years? As far as I can see a large number of farms have gone - they are asset rich but the kids wont have anywhere near the liquidity to retain them. State controlled food production beckons. I wonder if any farmers voted Labour.

Said exactly the same thing to my wife on budget day .Only one way all this is going with this bunch in charge.

Extract from an article in todays times.

The uncertainty is seen by some as embarrassing for the FCA itself. In October 2019 it told the industry that it did not expect them to explicitly disclose commission quantums. “Consumers are unlikely to engage with detailed explanations of complex commission models,” it explained at the time.

With regard to the new reading of the law. As the FCA has given incorrect guidance then does it carry any liability?

No position.

To be fair, coming the ruling after decades of allegedly unlawful practices in car financing and potentially any form of lending, is a statement of failure of the FCA to protect borrowers. The FDA should foot part of the bill as they let it run away to the scale it has ballooned. Or even better write it off, as it seems that there was lack of clarity on roles and responsibilities. Why only the lenders, and not the the agents acting as brokers, are the ones going to bear all the financial liability?

The fortues of those companies on the high st have been mixed though Scruff. If you look at the likes of Next they announced a doubling of profits to 1.7B last week Tesco a similar story, but then many CC high streets in second & third tier towns are like dystopian wastelands, frequented in the main by illegal immigrants & and those on benefits. Covid has indeed been a catalyst for change & for the beneficiary's of loans its been a get out of jail for many to retire early. I don't buy the crocodile tears from the squeaky wheels post covid Scruff especially if they've got a big house in Cheshire with a couple of Range Rovers plonked on the drive.

Israeli Army Continues To Bleed In Gaza (Videos)

Support SouthFront

he Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said on November 1 that a soldier wounded during fighting in the southern Gaza Strip in September had succumbed to his wounds

The soldier served in the ranks of the Givati Brigade’s Shaked Battalion. In the same incident, four other soldiers were killed and several others were wounded. According to an IDF probe, the soldiers were hit by weaponry that detonated inside a building in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The IDF intensified operations in Gaza over the last month, especially in the Jabalyarefugee camp in the northern part of the Strip, despite facing more attacks by the al-Qassam Brigade, the military wing of the ruling Hamas Movement, and other Palestinian armed factions.

Between October 28 and November 1, the al-Qassam Brigades released four videos showing two Merkava MK 4M main battle tanks being blown up with explosive devices, as well as two attacks with rocket-propelled grenades against a Humvee armored vehicle and an Achzarit armored personnel carrier.

All four attacks seen in the footage released by the group took place to the east of Jabalya, where fierce clashes with the IDF continue.

The latest death brought Israel’s toll in the ground operations against Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in Gaza and along its border to 368. More than 2,344 others have been reportedly wounded. In addition, over 500 vehicles were hit in the Strip, according to Hebrew media. A helicopter also crashed.

Meanwhile on the Palestinian side, the death toll from the Israeli war has exceeded 43,000, with women and children making up most of the casualties.

Despite taking more losses and failing to achieve any of its main objectives, Israel appears to be determined to go on with its war on Gaza.
