14/7/2024 11:26 | Why do Irish people in Scotland support the SNP? How would they feel if the British tried to split their country up? The British governments of times gone split both India and Northern Ireland. I wouldn’t say Indian and Irish people feel grateful for it. Both countries were split upon religious lines which led to various problems in each country. Building a country upon maintaining a religious majority isn’t a good idea in my humble opinion. However Scotland as an independent country would be different as it wouldn’t be a country defined by religion. I’m Irish and not campaigning for Scottish independence, but some of my SDLP colleagues were involved. Their reasons are two fold: They feel their Scottish cousins have been let down by the Brtexiters. Scotland will be significantly worse off post-Brexit. An independent Scotland could join the EU and serve as a trading partner for Ireland. Thus lessening the blow has on the Republic of Ireland. As I say I have no horse in that race. I’ll leave the Scottish people to decide what they want to do. | utrickytrees

It is only Putin's exceptional maturity and restraint that has stopped this happening. Every one in high positions of power with a brain knows this for a fact...but the lie of Ukrainian poor little me goes on and on. NATO ratted on solemn undertakings given by Reagan to Gorbachev. | ![]() mr.elbee
