Vallance has said that Boris was totally clueless when it came to reading and understanding graphs and statistics during Covid.
Boris admitted that he had not studied science since he was 15.

I think the idea of Starmer bringing in outside experts is a good one. Good to have a minister of science who is a scientist.

This Thatcher principle of 'experts advise, ministers decide' is ok up to a point, but we do not want ministers who are too clueless, they become totally reliant on their so called experts.

Maybe M2. Im obsessed with how my household is run too. Ive been amazed by how many people say keep politics out of it and then complain when the govt raises their taxes, or house illegal immigrants in their town largest hotel, or bans diesel cars or whatever. Either be involved or STFU totally imo.

Go out for a hike - remember Benny Rothman
take the dog for a walk - bully dog?
Whitley Bay - lots of hotels - now what could they be used for?
Lake District - National Park - great place to build houses
Fish and chips - Fisheries policy and potatoes or rewilding or solar farms.

Leave them to it ????

The Tories have been very effective at providing opposition - to themselves. Every one of their many factions vehemently opposes the others.
Agree...They managed to topple their best asset Bozo over a couple of cut sandwiches and a piece of birthday cake.

He's appointed Milliband as energy Tsar, with a bit of luck he'll recognise the opportunity for British Business to develop SMR's and guarantee 10,0000's of jobs for the economy. RR has the opportunity to become the next Amazon/ Google. Current metrics could just be the start? Next time line decisions expected imminently.

You guys are obsessed with politics, just leave them too it and enjoy your life, you can't do out about it. Go out for a hike, take the dog into the woods, have a trip to Whitby (fish and chips) have a few days in the lakes, bolt on the bike and take a trip to the peak district.
Life is far too short, and politics rarely changes much.

Spot on Scruff.
This Labour govt wont last the full term imo as it'll be cap in hand to IMF at some point. Most of them, the Cabinet, are woefully overpromoted.

@GadSaad

I've said this before but it's worth repeating: World history is defined by the following simple rule. There are two groups on either side of a river. Each covets various resources from the other group. The only thing that stops a perpetual conflict between the two groups is the realization by each group that the other will respond in equal measure (or worse) if attacked.

Now imagine that the West has decided to throw away this defining dynamic that shapes this fundamental historical reality. Defending what is ours is rooted in our genes; it is a central feature of our human nature. But the West has said that we are so progressive, so empathetic, so enligteneed that we are not bound by pediastrian biology.

Hence, we will not defend our culture; we will not defend our heritage; we will not defend our religion; we will not defend our women; we will not defend our children; we will not defend our values. According to our Western leaders, only barbarians worry about such defensive concerns.

We are open, tolerant, kind, compassionate, welcoming. No amount of evidence can convince us that other groups might do us harm. And hence, we brainwash our children who become our politicians; we rejoice in the rape of our societies because this proves that we are kind.

It is a mixture of what I discussed in The Parasitic Mind and what I'll be presenting to the world in my next book Suicidal Empathy. I frankly am running out of optimism; I'm bereft of hope.

I fight every day at great personal and professional cost.

But how can you change anything when your society is hellbent on committing orgiastic suicide?
