07/7/2024 08:39 | I see in todays Telegraph that our new Foreign Secretary is already talking to the Germans and has started to unwind the 8 year nightmare of Brexit. There is hope. Better relations with our biggest trading partner is low hanging fruit. Another interesting social experiment is the power given to Angela Rayner. She has a CV from hell and no significant formal qualifications. We have seen the likes of Cameron, Johnson with their 'trained to lead and rule' CV's, Eton Oxbridge show themselves to be bungling incompetents. How we would love Rayner to succeed, it would make us re think this whole Eton and Oxbridge obsession. Maybe the University of life route is better after all. On the job training and an open mind is what we need. Time will tell is she will be an effective minister, I hope she succeeds, she could hardly be worse than the previous lot who's pomposity had no bounds. | ![]() careful | |

They do not get paid for 2 years after they lose their seat. The loss of office payment is one-off redundancy payment which is equal to twice the amount of statutory redundancy entitlement.
