01/1/2021 15:57 | My goodness what prospects lie ahead of us for young people now: to be out there buccaneering, trading, dominating the world again.” This is beyond parody. The UK dominating the world again... Yes, the world is waiting with bated breath to be dominated by Britain once more... Seriously... I'm sure the 17,000 UK Erasmus students a year who have just lost that opportunity are thanking IDS from the bottom of their heart. | minerve 2 | |

01/1/2021 13:05 | June Mummery, from Nigel Farage's group of politicians, tweeted to announce she had attended the penultimate session of the European parliament's fisheries committee to include British MEPs. Posting a photograph on Twitter she highlighted a concern many of us Remainers have been trying to emphasise for a number of years. "The big question now is, who will be here to hold these people to account while they still control Britain's waters, but the UK has no representation?" she asked her followers. Mummery did not provide any answers to the question she posed - but she received more than 7,000 responses from those aghast by what she had just asked. 01/1/2021 12:19 | A trading compromise with Britain's European partners also reduces the risk of negative interest rates. The Bank of England may have been forced into action to help mitigate the impact of a "no deal". However, rate changes may still be deemed necessary in the economic response to the pandemic. The margin a banks makes by lending is directly related to interest rates, so the removal of the threat of negative rates, or even the potential for rates to rise, should boost profits at lenders. Domestic banking group Lloyds could be one of the biggest beneficiaries. Its share price has struggled in 2020, falling 42pc, after the Bank of England put the brakes on British banks paying out dividends. “When this is lifted it is likely to be a further boost for Lloyds shares,” Mr Khalaf said. Daily Telegraph In my opinion 45p in 2-3 months is an entirely conservative estimate. | cobourg1 |
