Problem for Boris there have been a number of U turns recently so why would the EU take the threat of a 38 day time limit seriously? Knowing their record for last minute brinksmanship, surely they'll gamble on Boris doing another U turn and extend the transition period.
Hope I am wrong.

There must be no news today. I dont think there is one article in the on line version of the telegraph that isnt simply a comment/someone's opinion. If they only printed the news they could sell em at a fraction of the price or give em away

Now the EU needs to choose. It could get on its high horse – a steed it has often mounted in the past – and gallop off over what it says are breaches of the protocol. Or it could express an understanding of the problem which Britain confronts and talk about ways to overcome it. This sort of stuff is not something at which M Barnier excels, but there are more skilful and important leaders in the ?EU than he.How strong is the British stance? I am not sure. On the one hand, we conceded too much over Ireland in order to hasten agreement last year. Hence some of the current difficulty. On the other, the EU is much clearer than it was then that the Government means business and has an electoral mandate. Britain is not bluffing about no deal. It has even invented a euphemism for it – an "Australian deal". A free trade agreement would be "a Canadian deal". It would prefer the latter but would be happy with the former. This is quite a strong position, which Brussels would be wise to respect.

John Redwood@johnredwood20mIf the EU does still want a Free Trade Agreement with the U.K. as they stated in the Political Declaration they need to move on from trying to take more of our fish and keeping us under their laws.

Re 313974

Sorry about your acquaintance.

If you are overweight you do not tolerate ventilation well.
He would of course have died if they had not put him on a ventilator.

Boris is very much overweight. They did not ventilate him but used very large amounts of oxygen to keep him alive. As I understand it, ventilation uses less oxygen but forces it in.

Unbelievable: The CDC has quietly updated Covid number to admit only SIX PERCENT of all the 153,504 deaths recorded actually died from Covid. That's 9,210 deaths.

94% had 2-3 other serious illnesses & overwhelming majority were of advanced age. Stunning.
