The gall of the Chinese..

"China urges the US to immediately withdraw its wrong decision, or China will definitely take a proper and necessary response," said foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, adding that China was told only Tuesday that the consulate would have to close.

"It is a political provocation unilaterally launched by the US side, which seriously violates international law...and the bilateral consular agreement between China and the US," Wang said"

They cry "international law violations, and bilateral agreements" whilst simultaneously ignoring such in

HONG KONG.

The 1997 Hangover treaty.

Arresting British Consulate staff on dubious pretexts.

The Chinese are a threat to world peace.

Support them at your peril.

Sky Business News this AM..... CEO Yorkshire BS reported that 1 in 7 clients requested payment holiday. Market getting back to normal from a lending perspective is the gist of his comments. See's N&SI demand looking to soak up more savers money... again a gist of his comments... I suspect Lloyds will not be much different from a Macro perspective. I'm erring on the positive for LLOY this AM.

Live Coronavirus latest news: Banks told customers will need to wear masks

Banks have been told customers will need to wear masks ahead of the publication of guidance on coverings in England.

Asked if people should cover their faces if they are going into a bank, Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis said: "Yes... it's all retail outlets and retail banks on our high streets are retail outlets effectively as well.

"And what you're doing when you are in a bank, if you're going in there to pay money in or withdraw money, you're going in there in the same way as you're going into a shop to buy a sandwich, or a book or some clothes.

"Therefore it is appropriate that you should be wearing a face mask."

There has been mass confusion over settings were masks are required, including takeaways. Mr Lewis said that if a customer is getting a take away coffee from an outlet like Pret a Manger, they should wear a face mask, but if they are dining in there is no need to wear one.

Good to see Sturgeon extending hospitality to the UK Prime Minister...NOT.

Disappointing, we've always found the Scots warm and welcoming. I'm sure she does not represent the values and feelings of the majority in Scotland.

Attention all Shoppers!
A message to all shops. Please circulate. The mask regulations have not been published but will contain exemptions for those with a disability or for whom masks cause ‘serious distress’. If you refuse entry to disabled ppl you are prima facie liable to them under the Equality Act.
Any person refusing a service or to sell a product to a disabled person by reason of their disability is liable to that person unless they have a statutory defence.
That they haven’t told you is unlikely to be a defence. By the nature of their disability, some with depression (etc) will be reluctant to tell you about it. Indeed, being asked is in itself likely to exacerbate their symptoms.
It is also a symptom of depression, dementia and other conditions that sufferers are disorganised and forgetful, meaning they’d be likely to forget any medical certificate.
This is all highly foreseeable. So any policy requiring a medical certificate to be shown is likely to be indirectly discriminatory on some disabled and other people; and is unlikely to provide a shop with a statutory defence.
The only way a shop can avoid the risk of many expensive law suits is to order its staff not in any circumstances to ask why a person is not wearing a mask and not to bar entry if they aren’t.
The regulations, we have been told, will not impose liability on shops for persons not wearing masks. Moreover, there is a statistically zero risk of a person proving where he or she was infected; & a shop could not realistically be found liable for an infection even if s/he cld.
The fact that medical certificates are rare and may not be able to be obtained is an obvious and important consideration for shops when deciding on their policy; and increases the chance of a requirement to show one being discriminatory.

About RBS ... Robert Young23 Jul 2020 6:37AMWell at last they are killing off the terrible association of banking with Scotland. The vast majority of the banks customers and clients are outside Scotland so right decision. It was only ever an ego trip from the previous boss supported by the SNP Government to try and put Scotland on the world stage.  Hopefully at some point its registered base will also move back to London

Tom Hawk23 Jul 2020 6:37AMThe proper way out should have been to let RB Scotland go whilst keeping NatWest and the other parts afloat. Instead Gordon Brown pumped billions in to the RB Scotland because he is a Scot and he didn't want to the the Scot who closed down the royal bank of Scotland. As a result of his behaviour we are lumbered sith structural debt that is still being paid off ..(. before this C19 fiasco.).And now the sacred cow of a Scottish bank is being slaughtered.. We suffer for Scottish arrogance.
