If the government say things like "we are relying on the common sense of the British people" and people "should" wear masks when out and about what do you think the bozos are going to do!

LOL

Boris should be saying that people HAVE to wear masks and the people are RELYING on the government to give clear and strong instruction. Reliance is NOT the other way around.

There is no such thing as common sense. If anything common sense is actually 'uncommon sense' as noted by Charlie Munger.

I don't own Capita ATM but they are always in the dock for something. :)

I was posting it because the Tory government are nationalising many things that seem to go unnoticed by the privatisation tribe.

"For years Surgeons and Operating Theatre and infectious disease ward staff have worn PPE and face masks. Isn't it plainly obvious that these things aren't fashion items they wear them to stop infection"

Absolutely.

Am looking forward to Poikka's response to such.

Why? do so many bozo's disagree with the science.

In 2018 the government was forced to take over the management of HMP Birmingham from G4S after an inspector’s report found it “exceptionally violent”. Last year, the government decided to return HMP Birmingham permanently to state management.

Ho Ho Ho.

Got CoD masks. Fun going into shops looking like we are going to rob the place.Would rather wear a mask than not. If it stops me potentially passing CV19 on to someone in the vulnerable category it is worth it.

@grahamite2. Totally. Feel safer with everyone wearing a mask and also it removes the worry about looking the odd one out.
As for Lloyds: Results due and IMHO a move upwards.

Fair enough Tygarreg - clearly neither of us was trying to pick a fight!

My instinct is that these new regulations will be quite a strong deterrent to going to the shops, but my contact in retail says, no, quite the contrary, it will encourage people because they feel safer. We really are struggling through a pea-souper here.

Mask wearing with Lindsey & Dr John Campbell.

Evidence of aerolisation of virus....in air for up to 3 hours.
Wearing a mask is common sense.

"Logic tells me that wearing a mask, which is near as damn it useless, gives a false sense of security and will lead folk to get closer to others than they should"

Actually Logic would tell you that viruses spread by people sneezing or coughing their virus out into the air around them...

A mask would cut this considerably if not completely depending on type of mask worn.

So your logic in this regard is holed by basic facts

"'Droplets', the most lethal, are considered to be 5 microns wide; the human hair is 60-120 microns wide"

Once again, you need to wear the correct mask. But any mask is better than no mask.

"Then there's still the issue of eyes, and they're going to be of greater vulnerability when folk get even closer"

Indeed.Glasses or better still, goggles that seal reduce/prevent this vulnerability
respectively.

"Then there's the evidence that in the Far East, face coverings didn't stop the spread of seasonal 'flu"

What evidence? Link please.

because what the evidence does show is that nations that implemented mask wearing fast, off the bat, have far lower infection rates and deaths than those that did not.

Indisputable fact.

You are peddling tripe Poikka

The WHO, CDC and other bureaucracies initially failed to quickly realize that the benefits of masks compound, simply because two people are wearing them and you have to look at the interaction.

MM2

You have a very short memory.

Look at the death rate and death total versus other European countries.

Boris and Cummings are a disaster for this country.

Wasn't 20,000 deaths supposed to be a "good outcome".

LOL!
