G2 - you can also ask the question who made Libya a failed nation state?

The UK is prevented from deporting Libyan prisoners back home after they serve their sentence because to do so would breach their human rights due to the dangers posed in the failed nation state. Sources said on Sunday night that Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, is planning to crackdown on asylum applications and speed up the deportation of foreign national offenders as part of the Government's plans to reform the asylum system.

Stop pratting about with "crackdowns," repeal the Human Rights Act NOW.

Not much gets a mention here about Scottish Widows within the Group...started to see those adverts on TV again...tends to be during market/economy crisis...should they have disposed it during the good times to release value for shareholders?...any views...it seems keeping the businesses together and the insiders overall get higher remuneration packages...larger the group in size so larger the remuneration packages for insiders...

Post 10482...what the company is doing and what the share price is doing and what the insiders earn has no correlation to each other...wider shareholders buying shares in a company are merely buying a paper that has numbers written over it...if lucky you get a return in a form of a divi or price appreciation....or fork out money in the form of RI if company needs money...rest of the time you are irrelevant...insiders own the company as they call the shots and wider shareholders just ride along in their coat tails...

Simpler if we all just wear masks in public for a bit as the Asians do.
And there are plenty of suitable masks around...

Elderly people could wear RIBBONS to show they are social distancing when lockdown measures are eased further, SAGE scientist says

Elderly people may wear ribbons to indicate they are social distancing in future

Professor Calum Semple suggested such measures as lockdown rules are eased

Prime Minister Boris Johnson appears set to cut two-metre distance rule in half

Elderly Brits could wear ribbons to show they are social distancing when lockdown measures are eased, according to a top government scientist.

Professor Calum Semple, who sits on Number 10's SAGE panel, said it would signal to other people to stay away as life slowly gets back to normal.

"300 years??...what I do see is plenty of gleaming new top end cars on the road...where is this recession?"

How many of those gleaming new top end cars are owned rather than being leased on pricey rates, probably to be returned at the end of the lease period?

ie All on the margin. No job/Lose job/Pay cut how are these lease payments to be paid?

Re. the debate on the usefulness of NATO military spending rather than the dollar amounts:
HMS Dauntless, a Type 45 destroyer (£1bn), has been sitting in Portsmouth harbour since 2016 - when she spent a total of six days at sea. The 8,000-ton ship will now undergo a major engine refit and will not be deployed for another year.

So there is a £1bn spend - tick.

Captain Haddock's coracle would be of more use.
