I think they are on a suicide run anyway.

Cancelling/delaying brexit will be next up, it's too good an opportunity to miss.

Here's some polytechnic logic.

Saying undoubted strong and unusual characters dying is a bit sad = not supporting nurses.

Oh well.

If boris sanctions no going out to exercise, i think it will be the end of him.

Which would be a shame.

Joss Wynne Evans 5 Apr 2020 5:17PMSo far we can survive this bizarre disaster movie stuff - it's not amounting to a lot more than an extended Christmas period, with many of the same tedious features. But it is long past time for the government and the people to focus on the reality, which is that this flu is no worse that epidemics in some previous years quite recently. We need now if we are to avoid lasting damage to society:*To recognise that CV19 is not likely to prove worse that previous strains in previous seasons - in Q1 2020 less people have died (by over 1000) including CV19 than died in Q1 of 2019.* To instruct the NHS to resume normal working.* To begin to consider the most troubling aspect of the whole affair, namely the news handling world-wide of the issue

Will not be watching the Queen tonight.

Don't need motivation or instruction from that old privileged hag.

People get upset over some old fart dying but don't mention the nurses.

Perhaps if we hadn't had a Tory government over the last decade we would have better protection for the nurses and they wouldn't have died at all.

Tory voters are responsible for health worker deaths, for sure.

Brexiters even more so.

Don't worry Brexiters, foreigners are bringing you your survival packs.

K38 Germany has more cases because they have tested more people! You may want to look at the German mortality rate....

Catherine Calderwood SNP's chief medical officer for Scotland flauting UK lockdown restrictions on travel to visit her country residence in the most critical period. I note the residents of Fife returned an SNP candidate last time round, perhaps all SNP government employees & voters have holiday homes? No doubt mortgages all paid by Barnett.

Dear Boris,You tell us how many people die with the Coronavirus each day. Please tell us how many die of all causes each day.We will compare this with the average number of deaths that day in previous years. Then the public can see how many extra deaths are being caused by the Coronavirus. We already have the daily figures for deaths in 2018, and the average daily figures for the last five years. We also call on the Government immediately to publish the total number of UK deaths every day in 2020.

jacko - an interesting post. I am half in the garden so please excuse a shortish reply. My views are all pre-virus - I don't know what that could do.

- I do believe that trading blocks are essential; domestic markets are just too small perhaps with the exception of US and China.
- Switzerland could not function without 'foreigners'. (From memory around 25% of the population are foreign PLUS over 300,000 coming across the borders each day).
- areas are run on an increasingly regional basis - borders are ignored.
- Switzerland has a large commercial base (engineering, chemicals, pharma etc plus foodstuffs like Nestle. Mega companies).
- Switzerland is the base for many multinationals.
- there is an increasing realisation of the above. The Swiss are not emotional when it comes to important votes. Would they risk Schengen for the above benefits - probably not.

So, as of pre-virus - No.

OBSERVATIONSYes, it's true. Far more EU nationals wanted to become citizens of the soon-to-be-non-EU United Kingdom, than vice versa. The UK's decision to leave the EU did not stem the tide of those EU nationals wanting to be British. The EU has spent the last three years wittering on about "citizens' rights" when it should have been negotiating a normal continuation of trading arrangements between the EU and the UK. Prominent EU politicians such as Mijneer Guy Verhofstadt MEP have repeatedly made very disparaging statements about the UK, as if it has a human rights record worse than China's.Well Guy, if the UK is so awful, how come more EU people want to become British than want to become citizens of your own country of Belgium, or of any of the other EU countries??And how come you buy vintage British sports cars and come over to the UK to race them, if we're such monsters?Face it Guy, it's great to be British. :-)
