The virus is clever, it knows there are a lot of stubborn, thick idiots and gammons around who think they are different to everyone else and know better - like Pierre.

It's the will of the virus.

LOL

What are Spain doing then Wetdream?

Still if that is what Italy is doing, it's nowhere near as bad as what China did(Lied) and iran are doing (lying)

We must not underestimate the virus and it's a must with the government advice. We all must follow them.As for the effectet ones, sure some will probably die but nothing near other flu or viruses. It's all about control of the virus.. that alone will kill the virus

I expect also our NHS will become stronger in many ways after all this.

As it can take 3 weeks or more for the incubation period, I'd say we're a LONG way from knowing how bad this is likely to get......

k38 "Ofcourse media needs to stop their scaremongering about us being three weeks behind of Italy."

Some things never change....our media always quick to portray dire outcomes and run the country down. Perish the thought that we might actually be learning from what is happening in Europe and will defeat the virus soon.

Finally Good News: Slowdown In New Cases, Deaths Suggests Italy's Outbreak May Be Peaking

Time will tell...

According to The Times, Italy is overstating (Misstating)the number of deaths caused by COVID-19, by counting all those patients diagnosed with the disease, and subsequently dying, as having died FROM the disease.
This differs from others countries who recognise that co-morbidities play a significant role, particularly in the elderly.

Aljm,

Plenty of "muddy waters" on the counting side sure...But China was deliberate and on a massive scale - it;s how the Communists work> See Russians over Chernobyl - denial until it was simply farcical to deny any longer.

And so many died that didn't have to.

That's also before the mass deaths at home in quarantine that wont be recorded, simply taken away and cremated.

Iran is another case in point.

Am sure there's plenty of fudging elsewhere. Skorea, Singapore are the most trustworthy imo. By a country mile.

All this deceit and outright lies, many of which can be questioned with evidence
Eg If China;s death count is 3200 odd why were Wuhan's 30 crematoriums working 24.7 for last two months?

@ZZtop
23 million mobile phones disconnected in China.
Hmmm That's worrying.

But no sensible country quarantines 750 million people for several months and faces economic implosion for 3200 deaths.. Chinese populace is 1.4bn odd. 3200 is nothing.

Things dont add up.

And when the simplest most likely answer is they lied and the death count was alarmingly high, that is most likely the truth.

Whereas it takes only 2g of this Chloroquine to kill.
I rest my case.

Pierre, I pretty much agree. Recovered people will act as a barrier. The distribution is the distribution, it is the ferrymanin in this case and he has to be paid so to speak. Unfortunately the groupings of deaths in a short time line of vulnerable groups is slewing the decision making. It feels heartless to discuss deaths as cold statistics, but I can see these measures impacting many more people socially than any levels of deaths caused by the virus. The viruses also mutate over time, flattening it may not be a good idea as it gives it more time in the commumity to mutate. Tough decisions that nobody wants to have to make. Lets just hope it is short lived and doesnt take many lives that have not been lived.

Agreed, so called 'expert' on bbc 2 days ago said the death cases would double in 48 hours, it hasn't. He should not say that, how can he possibly know!!!!

Personally the Media should have a 'D' notice served on this regarding Corvid 19, they are doing the public no favours, leave all the announcements to the people that ACTUALLY know...

Ofcourse media needs to stop their scaremongering about us being three weeks behind of Italy. We need to be on alert, yes, but Not necessarily what happens in Italy to repeat here.

So, China its about to open for business or at list partly. That's good news and helps markets to a small recovery. If the virus show is slowing down in Europe, this has to be the bottom but recovery will take long time.

Plenty of sense here.
Can anyone tell me what the point of us all being locked down at home for 3 weeks if flights are still arriving at Heathrow from the worse affected countries/places?

Eg China, Italy
Eg Seattle, Los Angeles

"I wonder how much taxes will have to rise after we get past the corona virus threat.
We should all have to pay our fair share for what it has cost. I hope that no one complains or tries to avoid paying their fair share so that we can pay of the money borrowed"

This is an interesting one, currently those who are expected to continue to work are among the lowest paid in the country and are risking their life and the life's of their families for only the minimum wage in many cases. As such I don't see why these people should "pay" to keep the high earners lying idle in their homes ???

Personally I think that everyone who's being expected to work in a "critical" post should be earning at least the £35k figure that the chancellor is paying out to people laid off in their homes........
