06/3/2020 09:28 | Covid-19 is 20x deadlier than the Flu IF those requiring hospital beds& treatment get it. If the health service is overrun, mortality rate of those seriously ill is 50x worse than flu. The inability of the NHS to deal with a normal winter should be what worries everyone. Why? Because it means more people wont get the hosital care they need so the mortality rate will soar. | crossing_the_rubicon
06/3/2020 09:26 | i.e. it won't be enough. ;)) | alphorn
06/3/2020 09:18 | UK goverment are not even pretending that they are able to deal with the outbreak now The plan is to "delay" as many of you from going to hospital as possible untill later in the year, so that there will be enough beds for you to die in, and they will save a few quid in over time payment to agency employed nurses. | smartypants
06/3/2020 09:15 | "This is the southern media's revenge on Northerners for voting Brexit." Interesting theory mr.elbee. | cheshire pete

06/3/2020 09:11 | Germany's Robert Koch Institute confirmed on Friday that the number of coronavirus cases in the country climbed to 543 as of 7 am CET, rising by 143 from its previous days figure of 400. The government agency stressed there could be more cases in the country that still haven't been reported to the institute and urged all people who suspect they may be infected to contact health authorities. According to ear;lier media reports, 17 people in Germany have recovered from the disease, while there have been no COVID-19 related deaths in the country. No data about the number of tests performed in Germany has been available. | smartypants
06/3/2020 09:08 | The remainers predicted the end of the world if we voted out. And so it comes to pass... | maxk
06/3/2020 09:03 | LLOY is not Lloyds bank...its just another ticker on a screen LLOY falling 3% a day and posters cheering a div payout in 3 months time? Yesterday USA's Pence said they hope to have 75,000 test kits available! They can not even test yet never mind treat or contain. So today is Friday...what is the good news you are going to hear over the weekend that will boost LLOY share price come Monday morning? Perhaps you could ask a couple of bank clercs in the pasty queue at Greggs | smartypants
06/3/2020 08:51 | perhaps mr.elbee | ekuuleus
06/3/2020 08:49 | Yesterday lunchtime I was chatting to a couple of LLOY's employees and they were saying it's Bonus time but they're refusing shares and wanting cash. I told them I'd go for the shares but they said confidence is low in their offices. | gbh2
06/3/2020 08:48 | You people.. There is no point shouting at your screens... this is silly You have to accept what is before your very eyes Do you want to see, it will be a big relief for you when you accept It is not about how many people are dying, its about things such as China car sales down 80%...do you understand? | smartypants
06/3/2020 08:46 | Dont agree with anything you have said Ekuuleus..It is all factually wrong and very superficial. Never mind..We'll get on down the pub I am sure. | mr.elbee
06/3/2020 08:42 | God help this pathetic country if something really serious happened. Right now? illogicality rules ignorance rules deference to illogical and ill-informed and ignorant experts rules and ,statistically, and medically there is hardly a problem... we are all becoming snowflakes.. This is the southern media's revenge on Northerners for voting Brexit. cant anyone grow up? | mr.elbee
06/3/2020 08:32 | Yup, men have a tendency to confuse a cold with a flu, ask any women!!. Some major differences. A flu will usually raise temperature, your appetite disappears and if you drink tea, it will leave a metallic taste in your mouth. Aches all over, often with joint pain. | essentialinvestor
06/3/2020 08:32 | You can only record 1 cause of death. Measuring the death rate can be very misleading. Whilst CV may have a higher rate, it is generally people that already have serious conditions. About 2% of people die every year. At 2% for corona virus, it sounds scary but death rates from other conditions, e.g. cancer, copd, diabeties, will substantially reduce. | ekuuleus
06/3/2020 08:27 | That's why the precautions have been taken. | gaffer73
06/3/2020 08:26 | '30 times more deadly than flu' Think you are wrong there, everyone i know who has had proper flu, and not just a cold, are usually bed bound for a few days and weak as hell. We are told CV in most cases is mild, and in many you won't even know you have had it !!! However, doubled up on the bog rolls. Not because of the virus, but the Lloyds Share price. | mikemichael2
06/3/2020 08:23 | That's the reported death rate, likely very different from the death rate. However even at 1% it would be 10x more virulent than seasonal flu. | essentialinvestor
06/3/2020 08:21 | That's exactly why there is panic. This Coronavirus is 30 times more deadly than Flu. Death rate of 3% vs 0.1%. If it became as widespread as flu there'd be substantial annual deaths from it; and it'll likely mutate (possibly get worse, possibly better like swine flu eventually did). It may seem like sensationalism but these people do know what they're talking about. | spandy83 |
