25/7/2019 11:58 | IMV, the libdems would be going nowhere whoever got the top job. They appealed to the young, and then when had a bit of power stuffed them completely. I Doubt they'll bget much of the young vote again for a very long time. | shy tott
25/7/2019 11:56 | "They have elected an inexperienced young lady as their leader at a critical time." She has been in politics for 23 years. | minerve 2
25/7/2019 11:48 | The Lib Dems seem to have blown a great opportunity. They have elected an inexperienced young lady as their leader at a critical time. | careful
25/7/2019 11:43 | You seem very wound up this morning Alp.Yesterdays government appointments not to your liking? Yes indeed when TM first became PM I really thought that she would deliver on Brexit.I was wrong, she turned out to be the most inept PM we have even had.She negotiated a deal that was worse for the U.K.than remaining. In other words she was prepared to stick democracy where the sun doesn't shine. | excell1
25/7/2019 11:38 | Alps, it's not a question of changing minds, it was a question of May not delivering what she had promised; therefore, change support. Seems pretty straightforward to me. | poikka
25/7/2019 11:36 | That daft girl Swinson's at it again. If she just shut her mouth for a moment and tried engaging her brain...but no, that wouldn't work, some folk are just born mouthy and thick. "Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson has tabled an early day motion expressing a lack of confidence in the prime minister." Which, of course, won't even get debated. | poikka
25/7/2019 11:35 | What are you trying to prove, Alps? That you've got time on your hands to search out something negative about folk? The work of a very sad Remoaner. | poikka
25/7/2019 11:06 | ST - that was not my point. It was that a small minority on this thread get lambasted on a regular basis by other posters who have very short memories and forget what they have written before. Several minority posters have brought up that very point - how many people have changed their minds since 2016??? I don't know and it would not (immediately) impact my views. Nothing 'stick in the mud' about that - ALL uncertainty is negative in investment terms. | alphorn
25/7/2019 11:01 | Max - it will be more entertaining than a soap or an F1 race (apart from Silverstone)! | alphorn
25/7/2019 10:59 | Alp, I think 5700 sums up many of our problems today. You seem to want to belittle someone for changing their mind, as if doing that shows weakness or inability to analyse correctly. To me, it shows strength to change one's mind when the facts or circumstance change and a change of mind is justified. It's stick in the muds like you who stick to the same view through thick and thin and massively changing circumstances who cause problems - it's like you can't think for yourself and adapt. Just like many who 'vote labour' and always will and they have no idea why and don't question anything. And i don't mean everyone should always change their mind on a tiny bit of extra evidence, but sometimes the totality of a situation can change such that the a reasonale person would change their view. Very few do these days. | shy tott
25/7/2019 10:58 | The way it's loaded with remainers again Alp, I suspect it will go wrong very quickly unless Boris has extracted some very binding promises. | maxk
25/7/2019 10:56 | max - are the 6 BLAME people in a working party ready to blame someone when it all goes slightly off plan? | alphorn
25/7/2019 10:49 | Need to know stats for Boris’ ‘Modern Britain’ cabinet: Voted Remain: 18 Voted Leave: 15 Women: 8 BAME: 6 | maxk
25/7/2019 10:47 | Make up your mind excell: "Should have gone straight to Boris and cut TM out all together. What a waste of space and time she was". (2019) "We have a leader at last in this country". (2017) One of those prats who says that people can not change their minds. | alphorn
25/7/2019 10:40 | Everything will depend upon how the economy holds up. It is easy for a former Tory voting remainer to feel disenfranchised. A young girl leading the Lib Dems, banging on about women rights. Unelectable Corbyn. Farage, the new National Front Party.. ...and unknown Boris, let us hope he pulls it off. We are heading for a continental type coalition government. Nicolas Soames predicts we are heading towards a national government today. | careful
25/7/2019 10:26 | The Tories continue to be very lucky that the opposition leader is Corbyn. | alphorn
25/7/2019 10:25 | ‘No ifs or buts’ — Johnson vows to leave EU in 99 days. Despite the new 'hardcore' cabinet the market place does not believe it. (Suits me very well though if it happened). What the media in all its gushing, as in that 2017 speech, has forgotten is that there are at least two parties to any negotiation. Will give a fascinating storyline through the summer months. | alphorn
25/7/2019 10:10 | Ladeside - well said. It continues to be one time that I would be pleased to be wrong footed. The big risk IMO is simultaneous global and domestic downturns. Any idiots who believe that global/EU/domestic are in separate 'boxes' are fools. | alphorn
25/7/2019 10:10 | When does the Big Top arrive? | minerve 2
25/7/2019 10:07 | I did tell Lloyds investors that the share would go nowhere two years' ago. Jacko was waxing lyrical about a tiny upward movement. Dear me. Oh, look, Minerve is right again. That is why I am one of the best investors on ADVFN. I have been right about Bur, RMG, BT, Plus, Purp, Lloyds, SSE, BDEV, CRST, BVS, CSP, STOB, ESL, KETL, GSK, AZN, BTG, BCA, ABBV, RAI, BAT, IMB, BAE, RR, MRO, GKN, WPCT, Bitcoin and others over the last few years. My mistakes, only a few... CPI, PFG and KIE. Minerve is an investment king (a disciple of Buffett, Munger, Lynch, Arnold) | minerve 2
25/7/2019 10:05 | Before I go and do battle with the heat in true British fashion, here's a thought. Right now, this morning, EU leaders and their lackeys will be sitting down to outline plans on how to frustrate Boris' plans. Our new Cabinet would do well to consider what steps the EU will be considering and how to counter those plans. Use of the media will, once again, be high on the EU's agenda, and it should also be on ours (excluding Alps, Minnie and co). I feel confident that Cummings, at least, will be on top of that. | poikka
25/7/2019 10:00 | I suspect the €uro elections had something to do with the change of direction by the tory party high command. Change or die. | maxk |
