Lib Dems are like a reserve party...a bit like the reserve player who just sits on the benches but never gets a chance to play...

As before..where is the saving?

"If the EU refuses to reach a new deal, we will have to leave without one, under Article 50," Johnson said, adding that in the meantime £39 billion in the withdrawal funds may be used to alleviate the crisis in the short term.

"crisis" what crisis, what happend to the return to of the British empire's glory days?
And...
That's only for the "short term", what are the long term costs?

Johnson continued, we will complete the process of UK's departure from the bloc by October 31, and said that Brexit will present economic opportunities over which Britain may become "the most prosperous economy in Europe"

I think he meant outside of Europe, becaus it will not be in Europe once it leaves Europe.
Any easy mistake to make, and he is new to the job.

That mouthy girl has already saved the Brexit party and the tories..The bookies did have a Lib/Lab government as the most likely following a no confidence GE.

Both Steptoe and the stupid Doris[ 1.] have refused point blank to work with each other..
Good.

And Cummings is"driven" or a clever obsessive psycho, however you read him...

It makes a nice change from being threatened by obsessive left wing psychos, who are usually dim. Cumnmings isn't, and he is on OUR side.

Stock prices should rocket if fundies had any brains, which most of them don't possess.

1.for non musicians a "doris" is a useless girl singer that cant..sing..

The next election will be a battle for the young vote.
The Lib Dems could do well with them.

The Tories do well with the geriatric vote, (and the Brexit party will be obsolete if Johnson sticks to his hard Brexit)
Farage will just have 3-4m dedicated supporters.(out of 46m)

Farage has already suggested a pact with Johnson.
He fears extinction.

Shy Tott

The liberal democrats didn't have sovereign power - they were in a coalition. They had to surrender the student fees to stop other far more important and damaging policy being put through by Cameron and his cronies. Clegg was unselfish in his behaviour knowing full well he would lose his seat in the city where my daughter studies - Sheffield.

It is a real shame we don't have more politicians who put beliefs and values first rather than their egos, careers and bank accounts. As Clegg has shown, if you are a clever individual you can still get a good job outside of politics.

What has Boris done????

Alp's a bit wound up this am because, although things are panning out the opposite of how he expected, he nevertheless had the correct straddles and naked shorts in the right place to make a whopping profit. It's all on his web page, wherever that is!

IMV, the libdems would be going nowhere whoever got the top job. They appealed to the young, and then when had a bit of power stuffed them completely. I Doubt they'll bget much of the young vote again for a very long time.

The Lib Dems seem to have blown a great opportunity.
They have elected an inexperienced young lady as their leader at a critical time.

You seem very wound up this morning Alp.Yesterdays government appointments not to your liking?
Yes indeed when TM first became PM I really thought that she would deliver on Brexit.I was wrong, she turned out to be the most inept PM we have even had.She negotiated a deal that was worse for the U.K.than remaining. In other words she was prepared to stick democracy where the sun doesn't shine.

Alps, it's not a question of changing minds, it was a question of May not delivering what she had promised; therefore, change support.

Seems pretty straightforward to me.

That daft girl Swinson's at it again. If she just shut her mouth for a moment and tried engaging her brain...but no, that wouldn't work, some folk are just born mouthy and thick.

"Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson has tabled an early day motion expressing a lack of confidence in the prime minister."

Which, of course, won't even get debated.

What are you trying to prove, Alps? That you've got time on your hands to search out something negative about folk?

ST - that was not my point.

It was that a small minority on this thread get lambasted on a regular basis by other posters who have very short memories and forget what they have written before.

Several minority posters have brought up that very point - how many people have changed their minds since 2016??? I don't know and it would not (immediately) impact my views. Nothing 'stick in the mud' about that - ALL uncertainty is negative in investment terms.
