Great, Grayling's gone. How on earth did he last so long.

Total clear-out of a failed government, but I reckon some will return in due course.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Prime Minister Boris Johnson…

“Never mind the back stop, the buck stops with me… The doubters, the gloomsters, the doomsters are going to get it wrong. No one in the last few centuries has succeeded in betting against the pluck and nerve of this country. They will not succeed today”

The big weakness in Boris's position is his reverence for the result of the shambolic 2016 referendum.

Just one thing to add, the extra police and hospital investment and GPs and infrastructure all cost money, so that might push the £ down in the short term.

Interesting speech by Boris with much more detail than expected, and holding out the possibility that the EU could still get the £39bn - or not, depending if they wanted to do a deal. TM, of course, just couldn't wait to give it away.

The BBC interviewed two women - a Cameron advisor and the Observer's political correspondent.

The Observer woman started by saying that what struck her was how the speech was incredibly low on detail. That was a completely ridiculous thing to say, even the BBC thought that he gave a lot of detail. Well, that's the Observer for you.

Good start, Boris, just don't flag when all the naysayers around you start by saying why they think this and that can't be done. They'll try and wear you down. Stick to your guns.

The posters over the Guardian are frothing at the mouth...the hate and vitriol will do them a mischief if they are not careful.

I can imaging the dinner conversations in their houses, mention Boris and it will be a recipe for high blood pressure and a ranting monologue.

I bet their kids wind them up something awful...mum ' do you think that person Boris should be our prime minister? i don't think its quite right'...stand back after lighting the blue touch paper

Well, Boris gave his fight them on the beaches speech outside No10

And if he means even half of it, he's a shoo in for an election win.

Great story Boris!

Where is this utopian fiction supposed to happen?

Must admit, had a bit of a laugh downing my afternoon Jupiler.

I see big mouth Swinson's at it again during TM's final day.

"New Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson asked Theresa May what advice she would give to women dealing with men "who think they can do a better job, but are not prepared to do the actual work"."

That was a really useful contribution, Jo, thank you.

I was just comparing some of Lloyds numbers to Barclays and RBS, Lloyds looks significantly undervalued compared to them, or is it that Barc & Rbs are overvalued? I think the H1 results will give us some clues.
