08/1/2019 16:33 | goldfinger16 : Right to Buy proceeds from sales, accruing to Local Government, was, by Central Government diktat, not allowed to be used to replace the sold Housing Stock. This became the driver for smaller and smaller "Fair Rent" housing availability; not to forget the drive of Buy to Let. | bbalanjones
08/1/2019 16:33 | "The price of all property has gone up" No it hasn't. In my area a 3 bedroom detached was selling for £160k 15 years ago, however they're now going for £130k. | ladeside
08/1/2019 16:31 | That's thrown a spanner in the works.......... | ladeside
08/1/2019 16:23 | The problem with Right To Buy is that it depletes the social housing stock if you don't replace the numbers bought with the same number built. That is why so much social housing is now needed. | minerve
08/1/2019 16:21 | bbalanjones..it's called market forces, the price of all property has gone up. I agree that some Capitalism is bad, some good, privatisation of the Rail and Utilities bad. But right to buy wasn't a bad thing, it improved many people's lives. What would you prefer give it away to the people and then steal it back like Putin and the Oligarchs. | goldfinger16
08/1/2019 15:50 | She was just bringing back the Poor Law act and looking out for the Peabody estate dwellers! in Westminster these families found silver alright! | gotnorolex

08/1/2019 15:22 | Maggie emphasised the "Con" in Conservative. Harold MacMillan, former Conservative PM got it about right with his accuasation that 'Privatisation' was akin to "selling the Family Silver" Oh ,and "Right to Buy" ? £800k exCouncil Flats in London? | bbalanjones
08/1/2019 14:45 | the MP's cannot stop a No deal Brexit..it is an automatic default position. | mr.elbee
08/1/2019 14:43 | the more they whinge and whine the more support for them from ordinary citizens, who echo what Farage has said about Police response, continues to ebb away. | mr.elbee
08/1/2019 14:32 | Is uk banks are now one way bet as mps would not settle for no Deal BREXIT, ie UP? | action
08/1/2019 14:07 | Soubry biz was alo headline news on Radio 4 World at One programme - 15 minutes of it. And although it's still headliner on BBC Online News, it's only Nr.10 on most read. A bit of a disconnect there between what the beeb consider to be top news and what the public want to know about. | poikka
08/1/2019 14:05 | Loved Thatcher. LEAVE and WTO | xxxxxy
08/1/2019 13:56 | cm44 - if you look at the share price graph since last spring there is a repeating pattern of lower highs and lower lows. The price picks up, but never to the level of the previous high, and then falls back to lower than the previous low. I could do with picking up a few more and was holding out for 50p which never really came! | hoper1
08/1/2019 13:47 | Thank you! Please delete that post because it leaves a bad taste in the public eyes! Have some respect and honour for Mrs T. | corpbull
08/1/2019 13:43 | Hoper 1 Explain please | cm44
08/1/2019 13:31 | Meanwhile, back at Lloyds... looking at the graph, are we getting set up nicely for another drop? | hoper1 |
