There were two interviews today Scruff, one by the ex head of the energy commission which is what i think your referring to. The comments on new nuclear were made by the actual minister & broadcast on Talk news at about 1.15.

JL as I said earlier the minister for Energy UK was broadcast earlier on the news today reaffirming a commitment to 'new nuclear' from a SWales wind farm by 2030. My feeling is that that's all we're going to get before the licenses have been formally completed. Unless that is RR secure an order/ notice of intent from another country. There has been talk of a £20B commitment to SMR's from Sweden & the Poles are also seriously looking aswell. Obviously the UK government have a controlling interest with their golden share but either could help speed DM process. RR are not without irons in the fire....good place to be.

Problem is chaps, Labour are ideologically opposed to nuclear whether it be IBMs, Trident, Windscale type power stations. Most of em would have been paid up members of CND and spent their youth waving placards around Greenham Common. They probably all even hate RR ( for lots of reasons - its British, its successful and it makes cars out of their range). On top of which they have a loony in charge of energy policy. As someone involved with Energy UK said today - every time he opens his mouth he proves hes neither a scientist or an engineer. She also said though Tricky that if Butty man goes all in for wind power hes going to need SMRs cos renewables are only able to cope on a part time basis and even then the grid is out of date and cant cope. Dont worry though pensioners and home owning energy users have plenty cash left yet. Soon be 2029.

Yes Tricky
£210m just a grant. But there seems no commitment .
The commitment seems to be windmills.

Not sure what period your referring to when you say no gov takers JL? You are aware RR have had a £210M government grant to develop SMRs... in reality most of that would be the cost to get it through nuclear regulatory commission licencing, I think they're about 2/3rds of the way through that. No government in their right mind would nail their colours to the mast until this process is complete. Could be wrong but the likes of Bank of America don't go balls deep into a stock unless they've done their homework? Still an element of risk however.

SENRs(or SNERS) were the talk of the town when call me dave was there, when he was trying to get EDF to build a big station.
Politicians serve no useful purpose when they fail to understand and plan the needs of the populace.
RR got the idea and worked to get a prototype - again no gov takers - instead brain dead treason enshrined net zero without knowing its meaning.
SCUMBAGS dragged the need to nothing and now butty and tool want to ensure we DONT have a cheap and manageable energy source.
As Littlejohn writes in the mail - we are on the road to hell.
Dont say I did not warn u!

SPCE building nicely for whoever mentioned it 1-3 weeks ago

Needs to consolidate for a bit to allow a good build. Don't want it flying too fast
