The £quid a fish deal sounds good. But they wont go for that, as they would have to pay for the discards which is anything up to 50% of the catch.

Discards are the problem, it's huge.

Definite second covid wave coming and death rates ,though historically low are starting to creep up. What will the government do? A second lockdown would seriously cripple the economy for years to come. Many çompanies would go under and threatena banking crisis. All in my own Sunday afternoon idle sing something simple bored out of my mind semi trance....opinion.

I have been saying for the last 9 months that Barnier should not be the EU's negotiator, the poor bloke still thinks he's dealing with Mrs May. It's good news he is going, lets hope they can come up with someone less self important and not from France.

With Barnier gone, they will sort out the fish and have a mutually satisfactory deal.

I think it would be fair to let them fish in British waters but to charge them. An easy method would be a £1 a fish plus VAT.

FOREIGN AID FARCE UK spends £60m of foreign aid cash on providing faster internet for people overseas

BRITAIN is spending £60million of foreign aid cash on faster internet for people overseas.

Despite families here struggling to connect, the scheme will bring more “affordable” digital access to countries such as Brazil.

The cash will be used over four years for “excluded and underserved” communities across three continents.

The Digital Access Programme has so far laid out £3.1million since it started in July last year.

But £59.7million has been put aside to be spent by March 2023.

Tory MP Philip Hollobone said: “Most people would expect international aid to be spent on feeding and educating impoverished people in countries — not internet connections.”

The scheme is also being spearheaded by the Department for Culture to help “thriving digital ecosystems”.

At the same time, 610,000 premises in the UK cannot get access to fixed-line broadband.

According to media followed by most on this thread Barnier was no longer in the talks and had been side-lined. Is this his twin then coming this week?

"...comments come ahead of Mr Barnier's arrival in London for a fresh round of talks on Tuesday. The two sides have just weeks to finalise any legally binding agreement that needs to be in force by December 31 if a No Deal Brexit is to be avoided".

The Telegraph: Free to readOn Friday night, a group of extremists from Extinction Rebellion blockaded the printing plants where The Telegraph and other titles are produced.Production of those newspapers was severely affected and many of our loyal readers were denied the opportunity to read the fine journalism that we produced. Therefore we have made the decision that all Telegraph journalism published this weekend is now free to read on our website until Monday morning - and we have removed the paywall until then.

John Redwood@johnredwood3hThe UK is right to refuse to make concessions in the EU talks. No deal is better than a bad deal. Our right to self government must not be compromised
