James Nimmo13 Aug 2020 8:47AMWe have had nearly 50 years of leaving everything to "Nanny Knows Best Brussels" and "Nanny will save you the bother if ever being required to do anything for yourself Brussels" - so no wonder we need to really shake up the civil service - and in the meanwhile stumble along looking like idiots with cut and paste lifted from others, or stuff made up on the hoof.We have learn how to do things for ourselves once more, including getting it wrong at first and having to put it right as soon as we realise it is going wrong. The shambles this government and its civil service officials are making across the board on most things is part of the learning process every newly independent nation has to learn - shame there are now so few left who remember how to be independent and self reliant and competent

Why is the concentration of thought not on managed herd and not deaths.
There are millions of ppl world wide who have managed symptoms of so many DISEASES - yellow fever etc.
This should be let go.
Otherwise 5 million unemployed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And worse than that - love thy neighbour a thing of the past

CANZUK - an idea whose time has come?

Historian Andrew Roberts gives heft to the support for CANZUKAugust 13, 2020By Jonathan SaxtyA MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART, historian Andrew Roberts – a champion of the Anglosphere – has made the case for a future CANZUK superpower. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Mr Roberts argued it was time to realise a union with Australia, Canada and New Zealand – countries with which the UK shares a head of state, language (Quebec aside), a legal system, a political system, history and cultural ties – as "a vital first step on the way to a fully functioning Anglosphere." The article was republished by CANZUK International (an organisation which champions CANZUK). While I wouldn't necessarily agree that the world is solidifying into the empire blocs of China, the EU and the US, I would agree with Mr Roberts that "there is a mounting case that some form of federation among" CANZUK should be created, "with free trade, free movement of people, a mutual defense organization and combined military capabilities" to "create a new global superpower". I have repeatedly made the case for CANZUK in Brexit-watch.org, and in the Telegraph both here and here. In an uncertain world, large polities matter. But the EU – as has been seen time and again by its failure to cooperate as a cohesive bloc – will never be such a unified polity. As Mr Roberts rightly argues, all CANZUK lacks "is geographic proximity, which in the era of the internet and post-COVID renewed air travel is no longer the insuperable barrier it once was." Indeed, in spite of proximity, the EU cannot form a cohesive bloc. As Guardian columnist Sir Simon Jenkins argued "the EU is not a true political union, like the United States or Russia or even the United Kingdom". He added: "When the US was created, it agreed to joint liability for federal bonds. When New Orleans flooded in 2005, Washington did not tell Louisiana it was on its own. Nor did Britain say that to Northern Ireland when the province collapsed into bloodshed in the 1970s."  In a world where geography has never mattered less, it is cultural proximity which really counts. The EU requires a huge bureaucracy because it needs to be imposed top-down due to the lack of internal trust and cohesion among its constituent parts. CANZUK – with the trust built-in – would not require anything like the level of bureaucracy, with its spirit coming bottom-up from the people. Indeed, in any other point in history sharing a head of state would be seen as constituting a union. A unified CANZUK would immediately become the world's third largest economy, become the world's largest polity with worldwide geographic reach and colossal military interoperability potential, building on Five Eyes and the UKUSA Agreement. Not only is the EU incapable of acting as a cohesive polity, but the US is (understandably) increasingly unwilling to shoulder the Western alliance on its own.  Indeed, Mr Roberts argues: "There is no reason why the American taxpayer should pick up the bill of being the world's policeman forever, and an intimate alliance with CANZUK would provide welcome relief." As the historian writes: "A strong, prosperous CANZUK Union would make the Anglosphere a force-multiplier in a more uncertain world." Indeed, Australia, India, New Zealand and the UK operated as a joint military force in Japan, and again – with Canada – in Korea. While CANZUK's 135 or so million people is smaller than the 450 million in the EU, the central and eastern Europeans are already eyeing the exit (and they won't be bribed by Brussels into abandoning their social conservatism and sovereignty) and the southern European countries are pretty much kept in the bloc thanks to the economic straitjacket of the eurozone. Meanwhile CANZUK – unlike the EU – actually has room to grow.  The time for a CANZUK Union is now. The concept could be extended to all sixteen countries which share Elizabeth II as head of state. The EU is disintegrating (there is every reason to get on with a neighbour but there isn't necessarily a reason to open a joint bank account), the US is less willing to carry the Western alliance alone, the world is increasingly volatile and the case for on-shoring industry has grown after Covid-19. Moreover, Australia, Canada and New Zealand will not be putting all their eggs in one Sinocentric basket.  Get CANZUK done! It's a no-brainer.

Coronavirus or "Con-Us Virus"? – Facts4EU.Org was the first to question the hysteriaA summary of Brexit Facts4EU.Org's Coronavirus articles from 04 March 2020?© Brexit Facts4EU.Org 2020Over five months ago, Brexit Facts4EU.Org started to question the growing hysteria about COVID-19. Our stance was sceptical and the facts we provided were deeply worrying, although we supported proportionate actions such as social distancing. In short, we were lockdown sceptics before any specialist COVID-19 sites and when the mainstream media were embarking on a full 'panic-the-public' mode.Today you can read damning reports in the mainstream media about the effects of lockdown and the appalling decisions that have been taken. Public Health England even admitted yesterday (though not in so many words and with no apology) that it has very significantly overstated the number of daily deaths 'with Coronavirus'.Our question is simple: Where were the mainstream media when we published – and lost readers and regular donations as a result? Indeed, where were the alternative media? From the beginning, the Brexit Facts4EU.Org team were right here.BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARYBelow is the list of our Coronavirus articles to date:04 Mar 2020: Coronavirus or "Con-Us Virus"?
