www.stockexchangesecrets.com/scrip-dividend.html
A way for a company to save money but still pay a dividend is called a scrip dividend. This takes the form of a listed company creating more shares in the firm and giving them for free to existing shareholders. This is called a scrip issue.

Does anyone know if this year's dividend will ultimately be paid at some future point or are we expected to swallow it. What is the definition of a script dividend?

Alphorn, I'm old enough not to expect much of politicians. If Boris delivers a real Brexit, not Brino; if he slashes foreign aid; and if he cuts the judiciary down to size, that'll be something. Quite a lot actually.

Precisely why I don't want to get a bout of it, even if it is a mild case.

BARC results were very poor due to covid charges/costs

Ain't IMO going to get any better this year or next year either IMO

Expect ALL banks will now start to report in a similar covid affected way

G2 - you have got it in one. Aren't you worried that there are 'so many decisions and proposals coming out that are stark bonkers'???

You are happy that these razor sharp minds are running the country?????

I'm sure Boris doesn't write systems but there are so many decisions and proposals coming out that are stark bonkers, where the issue isn't the detail or the practicality but the basic principle. Examples would be levying CGT on principal private residences, and subjecting the self employed to Making Tax Digital even where their turnover isn't enough to cover accountants' fees.

No reason why they can't resume divi's if they are still making a profit with the extra precautions in place.

Agree, TNAV up over 8% for Barc.... Looking at a FT report Santander proposes a script dividend for 2019.
