26/7/2020 10:33 | Alps - "What a strange and touchy person you are Poika. Sometimes Captain Sensible and sometimes Captain Haddock. Have you always behaved like that or has it come on with age. It won't do you any favours.........and that is something that I am telling you" I must have definitely touched a raw nerve. I'm ok, mate, you don't have to tell me anything, I didn't find it necessary to flee this country and my friends and acquaintances because of my pomposity. | poikka
26/7/2020 10:31 | All things to all men. UK will defend itself against Chinese and Russian space weapons in biggest military shake-up since the Cold War, warns defence secretary. Ben Wallace said it will be a 'pivoting away' from focus on conventional warfare. He will look to 'operate more in the newest domains of space, cyber and sub-sea'. ......so many projects. ;) | alphorn
26/7/2020 10:29 | Alps - "Stupidity is your long suit Poika. 2016 - 07/2020 highly bearish GBP on the basis of high levels of uncertainty. 07/2020 -> opened some bullish GBP positions on the basis of some form of deal. Too difficult for you? Have a lie down" Nowhere in your post did you mention GBP, so maybe not so stupid Poika after all. Please don't go back and edit it. | poikka
26/7/2020 10:21 | They own the stock and whilst they may heavily influence it they dont own the price. Whilst there is no dividend there is little point to owning the stock. How long do you keep your asset earning zero interest. Institutions cant afford that for their funds | scruff1
26/7/2020 10:14 | s1...not sure your point being?... | diku
26/7/2020 09:49 | It's not often I comment on Scotland BUT whilst the Pigs have always been Pigs. The demands of being in an EU club where you cant quite afford the membership fees has compounded their piggy vulnerability. Theyve also obviously, been integral to the fortunes of the hanovarian & gaulist pig farmers so there is an undeniable strong symbiotic bond. Can the same be said of the Jocks? The juries out! The first obvious difference is the Pigs are lovely places to visit with wonderful history beautiful people great climates, fantastic food & wine, the list goes on, Europeans will want to visit the Pigs, afterall they're in mainland Europe. The main problem for Scotland though is its lack of identity amongst Europeans. In a recent poll by 'Eurofacts' the EUs main statisticians & pollsters 80% of EU citizens couldnt identify Scotland on a map, and would only consider visiting Scotland to see the Bonnie Princes Swarkestone bridge which unfortunately is in Derbyshire, Personally I think Scotland would benefit if its national football team could possibly manage to qualify for & have a decent run in the Euros. Look what it did for Wales! Many Europeans still think Wales is the capital of Scotland, it's an un calulatable legacy which could last for years! | utrickytrees
26/7/2020 09:40 | Up to £50k?...maybe some did day trading!...maybe some paid off their home mortgage!!...maybe some bought another property!!!...or maybe some just retired... The Treasury is in talks with the UK’s largest banks about an industry-wide plan to help tackle the tens of billions of pounds of bad debts expected under the government’s light-touch coronavirus “bounce back” loans scheme. More than 1m of the UK’s smallest companies have borrowed £33bn in just two months under the bounce back loan scheme (BBLS), which offers state-guaranteed, six-year facilities of up to £50,000 with only minimal checks on the borrower’s ability to repay. The scheme was designed by the Treasury to allow banks to lend quickly to businesses struggling to survive lockdown, but bankers and officials predict many loans will never be repaid. The Office for Budget Responsibility said this month that up to 40 per cent of these loans could default, with £53bn assumed to be lent in the six months the scheme will run. Based on loss per defaulted loan assumptions, this would cost the taxpayer £16bn. | diku

25/7/2020 21:24 | Scots can sleep easy in the knowledge that in the unlikely event of them breaking away from the Union the EU would support them when the going gets tough, just like they have with PIGS. | cheshire pete
