We wish you all a restorative summer.In today's brief: Russian hackers attempt to steal Covid vaccine; Corbyn used as Russia's 'useful idiot' during election; Boris' plan to get back to 'normality' and opposition to EU's recovery fund.Russian hackers attack UK Covid research: Almost every paper this morning is covering Russia's attacks on the UK, US and Canada's vaccine efforts. Downing Street accused Russia of a state-sponsored cyber attack on both Oxford and Imperial scientists working on a vaccine, calling it "despicable". The National Cyber Security Centre said the attacks were predominantly targeting government departments, diplomatic missions, think tanks and health care and energy targets with the aim of stealing valuable intellectual property. The PM's official spokesperson said "Working with our allies, we will call out those who seek to do us harm in cyber space and hold them to account." Dominic Raab seemed equally unimpressed when he said in a statement: "While others pursue their selfish interests with reckless behaviour, the UK and its allies are getting on with the hard work of finding a vaccine and protecting global health. The UK will continue to counter those conducting such cyber attacks, and work with our allies to hold perpetrators to account."The UK and its Five Eyes partners, Canada and the US, are working together to protect their most critical assets and said that at this time their top priority is the health sector. The NCSC said its analysis is backed by partners at the Canadian Communication Security Establishment, the US Department for Homeland Security, Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Security Agency.Corbyn used as Russia's 'useful idiot': Jeremy Corbyn was unwittingly used as a "useful idiot", a leading international affairs think tank has claimed after the Government said it was "almost certain" Russians attempted to interfere in last year's general election. This is the first time the government has acknowledged with such certainty that Russians interfered in the UK's democratic process. The Labour Party centred their campaign around documents on UK-US trade discussions, a document that is now known to have been obtained illegally from hacks on the trade department. Keir Giles, a senior consulting fellow at Chatham House, said that "these operations don't succeed without somebody to promote the leaked material. They depend on useful idiots on the target side...in this case it was the Labour Party and Jeremy Corbyn but in all cases, Russia will find people naive enough, or unscrupulous enough, to help their cause."Back to work speech and NHS funds: Boris Johnson gave a major speech today urging people to go back to work in an effort to boost the UK's recovery from the pandemic. He did, however, leave the decision up to businesses. To curb the fears of some, he also gave local councils the capacity to implement 'lightning lockdowns' without notifying the government first as well as announcing an extra £3 billion in funding for the NHS to ensure it can cope if cases rise in the winter. In a similar vein, he pledged to ramp up testing capacity and the track and trace programme.The guidance on using public transport and going to the workplace was relaxed as Boris said he hoped the country would return to 'significant' normality by Christmas this year.Herd immunity: An Oxford University study has suggested that the UK may have already achieved a sufficient level of herd immunity to halt a second wave. According to a new model, as little as 20 percent of the population may need to be resistant to the virus in order to prevent a new epidemic spreading."These results help to explain the large degree of regional variation observed in seroprevalence and cumulative deaths, and suggest that sufficient herd immunity may already be in place to substantially mitigate a potential second wave," the study says.US draw up ban on 92 million communists: The US has drafted plans to ban all members of the Chinese Communist Party and their families from travelling to the country. A ban could also include members of the People's Liberation Army, China's armed forces and senior executives in state-run businesses. If implemented, the White House plans would be the most provocative act yet in the increasingly tense US-China relationship.Brexit: Informal talks between David Frost and Michel Barnier end today. Barnier is almost certain to point to continued 'significant differences' between the two negotiating positions but we'll wait and see.In other Brexit news, yesterday, both the UK and EU released a statement following the second meeting of the Ireland/Northern Ireland Specialised Committee. The UK's statement spoke of "the intensification of technical discussions" on how the border between NI and GB will work, as well as noting the intention to provide further guidance to NI businesses in coming weeks.The EU's statement spoke about "a proper and timely implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement" remaining a "key priority for the EU".EU recovery fund summit: EU leaders will meet in person for the first time since the pandemic hit today in an effort to reach a compromise on the €1.82 trillion package, consisting of both the EU budget and coronavirus recovery fund. However, many are sceptical about whether or not a deal can be reached. Leading the opposition is Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte who is under pressure to significantly reduce the amount of money the Netherlands would have to pay. Also in opposition is Hungary's President, Victor Orban, who wants to get more out of the fund. Most masks of N95 or above are far superior to medical ones.
I wouldnt wear anything less than an N95.

N95, Half Face mask et al do not need to be changed every 3-4 days.
Sticking them under UV light, or in Sun will suffice.

if you wear a mask with a filter, then you dont need to do anything bar stick mask in sun - change the P3/P100 or CBRN filter over a far longer time period.

Take some journeys and watch. Totally filthy. Not everyone is intelligent and hygienic. It is the real world uneducated, simple, and germs build up and as they fiddle with masks then touch surfaces, got worse concentration than if just normally dispersed. Real world it is. Not some idealistic dream.

The rest should I suppose be changed 3-4 times a day. Most folk who wear them use the same one for weeks so a breeze passing across them will carry infection imo.
They are perhaps ok if you happen to have a bit of a cough i suppose.
