And deliver the aid by plane marked in red, white and blue, lol.

Talking of which, that paint job costs less than being a member of the EU for 40 mins.

EU membership = industry encouraged to move to Eastern Europe.

New plane marking = flying the flag.

Makes sense to me.

No recession or depression out there...still seeing plenty of top end cars aka Mercs,, BMWs, Audis, SUVs on the road...where is that debt reset button?...job done...

Britain's borrowing has soared to a record £103.7bn as debt outstripped the GDP for the first time in nearly six decades.

The figure is £87bn more than the same time last year and the highest in any April-May period since current records began in 1993.

The Office for National Statistics also revealed that public sector net debt stood at £1,950.1bn at the end of May 2020.

This is equivalent to 100.9% of GDP, the first time it has been exceeded since March 1963.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak, said: "Today's figures confirm that coronavirus is having a severe impact on our public finances.

Someone asked about the risk of using Chinese 5g technology.

My first reaction is how disappointed I am that the uk cannot do the 5g technology itself.
We are non existent in consumer electronics, do not make a smart phone and have little involvement elsewhere.

I think the stories about mis trusting the Chinese are propaganda.
America fears losing leadership in key areas of the internet.
This is their problem, they hate competition.

I do not trust China Russia or America.
Edward Snowdon's revelations demonstrated the extent of Americas espionage and hacking a few years back.

A new approach to overseas aidBy JOHNREDWOOD | Published: JUNE 19, 2020Now the government has decided to unite our foreign policy with our overseas aid policy, there is a great opportunity to rethink what we do and what it achieves.41% of our aid is currently routed through multinational bodies where we have little control over how well it is spent or who receives it. The Department has worked closely with the EU all the time we were a member, allowing them to spend some of our money as well. Surely now we need to unite our efforts behind policies that work and give to countries where we wish to help.Given the big pressures on public spending brought on by the CV 19 crisis, the government should announce the new budget figure for spending this year, as 0.7% of GDP will now be a lower figure than the Treasury thought a few months ago. We should begin winding down our indirect commitments of aid, and work up a great UK programme which achieves more. The UK has done some good work on clean water, on medical services and economic development. It should concentrate its efforts in areas where we have special expertise, whilst always being ready to be generous with disaster relief. We have the ships and  manpower to make an important contribution when disaster strikes a country. We know that many countries on our aid list have been poor for any decades, and know that past aid programmes have not succeeded in breaking the evil spell of poverty. We also know that trade is more powerful than aid at raising living standards, and know it is better to teach a person to fish than to send them  fish when we remember to.Over the days ahead I am going to sketch out some ideas on how we can achieve more for countries crying out for help with development with new approaches to the support and the investments we make. I invite your comments as I do this work.  One of the ways forward could be to help finance economic development projects and business development that generates sustainable jobs whilst providing returns for investors.

In the news they are are flexing their muscles with the USA, Hong Kong, India and have even threatened the UK.

Doing the rounds by email...no address

Barker/Ronnie Corbett/John Cleese days of upper, middle and lower classes. Now we have just two distinct groups, the givers and the takers.

The givers are the hardworking, tax paying (always ready to be fleeced) citizens who, like you and I, fend for themselves and their families because it is the age old way and the right thing to do. These people have a moral foundation built upon the precept that nobody has a right to a free ride and that it is a man's duty (particularly) to provide for his wife and his children. There are variations to this of course but the fundamental instinct remains as the driving force.

The takers are all those who depend upon the labours of the above. In some instances, because we are at heart a compassionate people, there are those who without the assistance they receive would find life intolerably hard. Nobody would really question their receipt of a modest portion of what is gleaned from the harvest. There are those who are employed in protecting the community; the forces, the police and the fire service. To these we could add the ambulance service and the NHS. Other infrastructural bodies also require a stake. Then we have the claimants, those who could but won't respond to the moral imperative to pay their own tab. In with these as a close neighbour I would add students. In times past they would already be out in the world making a living but through the largesse of the society in which they live they are relieved of such expectations for a time and are free to endeavour to learn enough to make themselves useful in days ahead.

It is my belief that the latter have no place in shaping society other than in a respectful and modest form. I do not begrudge them a vote. They are welcome to join with the vast throng of others, including the givers, in seeking to create the society of which they dream and to do it through the ballot box.

The givers must not be taken for mugs. It would be a folly to assume that they will remain happy to labour and supinely acquiesce to the destruction of the landscape they have worked and paid for. Compassion and fairness are not infinitely elastic features of human nature. There are limits and should the present stupidity cease to abate I predict there will be huge trouble ahead for whichever of the current governing/parliamentary parties is within hitting distance.

Bang on cue. BoE to apologise for historic slavery links. Is there any end to this pathetic apologising. They are imo showing themselves to be feeble personalities who shouldnt be in charge of anything. I am finding it all totally depressing. It happened, its past get over it move on a shut the f* up. There more pressing issues. Some pretty non pc things happened in the colosseum but no one wants to demolish the f* place (although maybe these woke weak minded idiots do).
