23/5/2020 20:51 | Thats an interesting post Uty. What about those public sector workers who are getting 100% + savings. No wonder teachers dont want to go back to work. Mind you soon be summer holidays. Happy days. Sunak has been good at borrowing and giving away so no wonder hes popular. Lets see how good he is at clearing the wreckage and rebuilding the house. I was a Boris fan and its hard to apportion blame given the current unique circumstances but Im beginning to waver. Boris and the cabinet are not filling me with confidence. They are starting to look lightweight, disorganised and not very conservative. | scruff1

23/5/2020 20:11 | There is an opinion that the furlough system is too generous. The argument put forward by many is that workers who are furloughed do not have to pay commuting to work costs, they do not have to buy office or work clothes, cinema’s, theatres, pubs, restaurants, etc are all closed. So 80% of pay can be argued as too generous. This is in contrast to many pensioners who spent their lives being prudent, investing to supplement pensions with income from dividends and cash savings. With dividends withheld and the prospect of negative interest rates is a form of redistribution of wealth. It is argued (and I listen to both sides of the argument), that the Unions and Socialists (and devolved Governments), are playing the Government into carrying out a form of redistribution of wealth. The Conservative Party are doing what the Left Wing have failed to do. Interesting take ? | utyinv

23/5/2020 20:03 | Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Steve White said it had been "most unwise" for Mr Cummings to make the journey, "given the whole ethos" of the government's guidance. | bargainbob

23/5/2020 19:32 | In case you need to know. The let out clause 'The official guidelines also define a "reasonable excuse" to leave home include providing "personal care... to a vulnerable person". It is that explanation that sources close to Mr Cummings are saying he relied upon to justify his trip.' Subtle. Use if need to. Basically going to help and assist someone ill or vulnerable.
