02/3/2020 14:02 | Best wishes Alphorn; we'll realise our fortune one day :)) | gbh2
02/3/2020 13:53 | gbh - they may not be so apart! I certainly agree with you that there are many areas in the labour force that need attention, eg the advent of zero and temporary contracts. Also the move away from apprenticeships was IMO a huge mistake. I am sure that there is lots to agree. Keep safe. ;) | alphorn
02/3/2020 13:40 | Alp, I'm through with it all now so no real pressure these days but I have to say, along with lower prices and (dubiously) more choice, we've seen a significant reduction in Quality Jobs in the UK that offer decent pay full time contracts with training & future prospects i.e Jobs in which one can Plan for a future. Much against my will I was part of the problem, we knew for years that mainstream Pharmaceutical manufacturing would be lost to the EU Golden triangle with generics farmed out to cheap labour countries. All we could do was try to ensure we and our staff received decent redundancy and pension terms. Today I see what we went through reflected in many other forms of manufacturing, imo we've not moved forward this last 25 years we've not even stood still, in economic terms the Majority of folk have moved backwards. You and I have exchanged many views during the last +20 years, which may have ended up with agreeing to differ, it's often as much as one can expect when our life experiences may be Worlds apart :) | gbh2

02/3/2020 13:33 | Brexit LIVE: Boris' free trade offer to Trump makes promise that will anger Barnier LEAKDaily Express | xxxxxy
02/3/2020 13:32 | ALP... No need to stoop to personal stuff. We all know you are a remainer and live in euro land and UK. I am not an idiot for detesting the EU but you could be labelled and idiot for not accepting defeat. Grow up! Accept that we all have our own views on Brexit. | maxidi
02/3/2020 13:28 | No DealWill be. | xxxxxy
02/3/2020 13:28 | ROBERT POLATAJKO 17 Jan 2020 10:35PM£15 billion annual EU contributions. £90 billion annual trade deficit with the EU.70% fishing grounds lost to the EU, opportunity cost £5 billion a year.£10 billion annual CAP opportunity cost. They tell us what to do with climate change, environment rules, business rules, vat. They tell us who to let into our country from the EU , costing us billions through low wage, low skill immigration of their unemployed to us.They tell us how to apply trade tariffs and regulations, for their benefit, not our benefit yet they get instant and easy access to the City.We plough money into the European Investment Bank and they tell us when we leave we can whistle for our investment. They want to replace nato yet we help them with military support and intelligence..Did we get any benefit from Eu membership? We will certainly benefit from organising our economy for our benefit. | xxxxxy
02/3/2020 13:27 | Let us do what Pierre wants and gamble humanity on a black/red roulette wheel. Good lucks folks. LOL! | minerve 2
02/3/2020 13:25 | Pierre There is enough science alright, you choose to ignore it. ;) | minerve 2
02/3/2020 13:22 | Ah, the precautionary principal. Strange, moving forward on an unscientific basis and implementing things like putting food ni our petrol tanks sentences millions of men women and children to starve to death. All with zero evidence on whether burning food in our tanks does any good whatsoever. | pierre oreilly
02/3/2020 13:21 | LADESIDE..I know you are from a tiny insignificant freezing little place called Scotland, ruled by a rabble of mouthy LGBQT freaks, but it's time you stopped whining!! Fact is we are the 5th largest economy in the world, so to call the UK insignificant just shows how thick you are. You don't hear us moaning about Scotland sponging off us. I don't blame you for your ever consuming jealousy of England. Rule Britannia!!! | jacko07
02/3/2020 13:11 | gbh - we have all benefited over the past decades in lower prices, more choice, almost zero inflation, etc. There are some very interesting books on the subject of trade and currency wars. I am not arguing against you, it is all a question of choices - including personal ones re travel etc. We will always (hopefully) evolve. | alphorn
02/3/2020 13:05 | Alp, We've handed over control of our whole Economic structure to a few companies that have redistributed it to even fewer Countries. China have been trying for years to prove JUST how powerful they are on the World stage and as of 2020 (whether intentionally or otherwise) Financial markets & Economies around the World have been shattered without the need for them to Fire a single word in anger! When we get over the Virus there needs to be a big rethink about events surrounding it's creation and distribution. | gbh2
02/3/2020 12:57 | Utrick, so nothing to say on the scientific proof of bias the lecturers proved (to my satisfaction)? Or are you sticking with the ubiquitous, lazy, unscientific, global, unified argument against all criticisms of climate science being 'he's pad by the coal industry'? Saves engaging brain or thinking I suppose. | pierre oreilly
02/3/2020 12:56 | How soon global central banks will take a coordinated action to prevent markets crashing? imminent I think | 338
02/3/2020 12:54 | Is that why GBP is falling like a stone. You bark maxidi but everyone else is saying what an idiot. | alphorn
02/3/2020 12:51 | The EU is urging Britain to drop the “political rhetoric” around Brexit..... Very strange comment when the whole idea of Brexit must be political. That comment from the EU shows a sign of their weakness and "let's be buddy buddies and talk like friends". No thankyou, it's the time for being tough so don't succumb to there lying, scheming ways Boris. Tell them to f.off! | maxidi
02/3/2020 12:42 | UK is trying | smartypants |
