the euro defence is for WW3,which they might wish to intend to start quite soon after Brexit.

the history of wars and conflicts when a woman is in charge [since 1100 onwards]is very interesting..more wars..more carnage..they just love it all....

This is a fairly decent even handed article from the Graun [shock horror]

Cameron opened the door to a British exit and the British people walked through it on 23 June, 2016.

Here's the end of the article for those unable or, more likely, unwilling to click on "DM" links:"The last time I visited Britain to gauge the spirit of your country for my newspaper BILD, I travelled north, to Teesside. To my surprise, I found local politicians and businessmen talking of low-tax 'freeports' and new opportunities, and people in pubs ridiculing the doomsayers in the south. Decades of EU membership had seemingly done little for prosperity there.More than one person told me that things might well get better, 'once we're out'.They could well be right. Europe fears a truly global Britain.Diehard Remainers still cling to the belief that Britain will stumble, that the forthcoming negotiations on a trade deal will prove tortuous.I am not so sure. With only ten months of talks left, Britain is in a far better position than most here on the continent dare to admit. In Boris Johnson, you have a charismatic, election-winning Prime Minister who has forced through Brexit partly thanks to the sheer force of his personality and his ability to outmanoeuvre his opponents. In the process, he has repeatedly defied his critics. They said he would never persuade the EU to re-open the Withdrawal Agreement, drop the Irish backstop or reach a new deal.He achieved all three - and I believe he can do so again with a trade accord.European politicians used to push around Johnson's predecessor, Theresa May.Now they are confronted with a leader who really is too 'strong and stable' to be bullied. The eminent historian Niall Ferguson recently said: 'I think Brussels has not really adjusted to the new situation, but they will adjust when they realise that Britain isn't about to be rolled over the way it was because of the way May was negotiating.'We will see a very different tone to these negotiations.'The Champagne at these self-congratulatory diplomatic receptions is starting to leave a sour taste.Your future looks bright. I'm not so sure about mine.* Alexander von Schoenburg is editor-at-large at BILD, Germany's biggest-selling paper"

A recent poll shows about 90% still think that the USA will demand involvement in our health service.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The USA cannot demand anything from us, the NHS is not negotiable. Anyone can play Hardball, but a no deal scenario is bad for both sides whether it is Europe, the USA or any other country. Don't forget China and Africa, they are important for the future so Boris should not let Trump dictate on Huwaui 5G rollout.

Trump is not the super deal maker some think he is, he has failed so far with North Korea and China, the deals he has done with Canada and Mexico are no better than what stood. Trump has failed replacing the affordable care act, he failed to get Mexico to pay a cent towards the wall that still hasn't been built.

Big Deal Trump is putty in Putin's hands, Boris just needs to tell Trump he is the Greatest American who has ever lived and is much better looking and smarter than Obama and the Donald will be his sweetheart forever!!

I wonder if Trump will give way of Chinese 5g technology and the digital tax.
if he does give way on these miner issues I fear that will be all.

After these concessions he will demand we tow the line and obey him on all other trade issues.

A recent poll shows about 90% still think that the USA will demand involvement in our health service.

Celebrating Brexit is odd.
Usually we celebrate at the end of a European War, not at the start.

We must never overestimate the intelligence of the Brexiteers.

Turkeys will celebrate Christmas on Friday.

Remember the Arab springs. All joy, dancing in the streets to their new found independence until reality sets in they have unleashed the beast and BANG - rabbits in headlights time.

wendsworth - well done for resisting the temptation. There's still 12 months of Brexit wrangling to go yet though I'm guessing we'll see a blueprint for a deal well before then even with the EU still trying to delay it.

Ironically the deal with the U.S may be more problematic because of proposed taxes for Google and the like. Trump really doesn't like that and we have seen recently how much respect he really has for the U.K and it's laws by denying the extradition of that diplomats wife to face trial here for reckless driving .

The 'special' relationship we are supposed to have with the U.S apparently only works one way.

careful..I read David Smith in the Sunday Times, today's article is just cut and paste from his usual anti Brexit stuff. Let's be honest about journalists, for every one of them that say's Brexit is a tragedy, there is at least another who say's Brexit is the best thing that can happen to the UK. Smith is continually wrong on many important issues, he was wrong on the UK's future by not adopting the Euro, Smith wrote we were doomed. Do not invest any money on Smith's biased outlook.

Smith knows that he can write virtually anything about what may happen in 15 years time, because nobody knows. Maybe the EU will be gone altogether now that the UK are leaving, according to the Alexander Von Schoenburg in the Mail yesterday, the UK leaving is worse than if they lost 19 countries! is the Mail right or wrong, all of it is conjecture. We have just watched three plus years of Smith types who have 'remain' stamped in them like a stick of rock. I for one am sick of them, in fact I think I am going to change my paper to the Telegraph.
