I would be happy with:

18+ Never worked or owned anything = 1/2 a vote
65+ Useful contributor to the country = 1/2 a vote

Everyone else = 1 vote.
Prison for multiple voting.
Voting compulsory, fine for not voting.

It's only the rich and privileged's (Tories) offspring who have the "gap year in Thailand", the rest have to work two jobs just to survive........

"maybe the voting age should be raised to 25"

Maybe because many old people are 'cremated in the prejudices' of out of date politics and cultural hate a maximum voting age should be brought in to exclude those over 55/60.

Just a thought. :)

"“A STUDENT has boasted she intends to vote twice in the General Election and even urged others to do the same.

Should be a mandatory 2 year custodial sentence imo.

My nephew was given two votes. Although, to be honest I doubt he will vote at all.

I think we should give 5 year olds the vote as they will be affected more than 16 year olds by the oncoming devastation, and know just as much about the consequences of their actions.

When I was 18 I’d been working full time for two years, paying tax etc and managing my own finances. As a lot of our youngsters don’t actually start work until they are 24, after 6th form, Uni, a gap year in Thailand etc, maybe the voting age should be raised to 25. Just a thought.

Voting twice issues are a storm in a tea cup. Facts have proven that it simply doesn't exist and if it did it isn't at anyway near a level that would sway outcome.

Let's suppose that they could vote twice, one would argue they should be allowed to have greater weighting anyway. Of course with longer to live, they no doubt will carry the biggest burden of staying in the EU or Brexit.

The demographic of Brexiters holds that many will not be around in a decade. Many will not see the results of their ignorant actions. It simply isn't fair that on a long-term issue an old Little Englander sat in WW2 should get an equal weight vote to a 20 year old progressive who has a greater handle on where the future lies.

The Conservatives remain strong favourites to finishing ahead of Labour, with the Lib Dems, Brexit Party and Green Party all staggering far behind in the latest odds.

Conservative Party - 1/25
Labour - 9/1
Lib Dems - 500/1
Brexit Party - 500/1
Green - 500/1

My two cents, Pierre:

any seat where the Conservative has any real chance, Conservative; any seat where the Conservative has no real prospect, TBP.

Voting TBP is making a point, voting Conservative is helping form a government.

I'm undecided, Brexit or Tory? I would have voted brexit should our traitor then Tory MP not have wisely bogged off elsewhere. It's now a safe Tory seat.

Are the labour youngsters going to brag about voting twice again on Twitter, one wonders? The penalty for doing so is unlikely to be a deterrent."He said he had voted once by postal vote and a second time in person at the polling station. After pleading guilty, Qureshi was fined £150, ordered to pay £200 towards prosecution costs and also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30." - IndependentBig deal.

Actually AliCat, you make a good point but the opposite to the one you intend!

I don't imagine many undergraduates go for postal voting - it requires work and attracts attention. So, to vote twice, they would need to travel from home to university - how many are going to be willing to spend that money? They have higher priorities, like beer, for instance. We probably shouldn't worry about them too much.

You're right that fraudulent postal voting is a concern, of course, although I'd disagree with you in limiting it to a particular group.

Prat.

No students just vote in one place. They can't afford to travel all over the place like the privileged blue-rinse brigade!
