23/7/2019 17:35 | I am sure Boris congratulated Corbyn when he became leader of Labour. | careful
23/7/2019 17:17 | The truth of the matter is, of course, that the rise in sterling against the Euro was due more to expectations that the ECB will have to ease money even more. Bojo was already factored in, but that won't stop some from saying that the £ would fall on his appointment. | poikka
23/7/2019 16:59 | Sterling today, including post Bojo elected. | poikka
23/7/2019 16:57 | how long do people give Boris ? Full term after this or the 31st of October. | bargainbob
23/7/2019 16:51 | A world wide recession is all we need. Some argue the World economy has been greased by central bank action and ultra low interest rates leading to debt. the gloomiest predict a crash. Crossing correctly points out the fact that although a poor Brexit deal will be a disaster for motor manufacturers, there are other serious risks. 'Why not climb Everest barefoot over the ice, when even with the correct equipment you could fail'. An insight to Brexiteers thinking. | careful
23/7/2019 16:46 | The UK's Trump.. Jobs for the boys (already) you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours... Newly-elected Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson has picked one of the most senior executives at broadcaster Sky, to become his chief business adviser in No.10 the Financial Times reported on Tuesday. Andrew Griffith is the current chief finance director and chief operating officer at Sky. (Unelected bureaucrats?) He was also formerly a Conservative candidate and "allowed Johnson to use his Westminster townhouse during his campaign for the party leadership." Griffith will be tasked with helping Johnson foster ties with the business world and will build a large business-focused team in Downing Street for that purpose. Has Boris got any family, I bet his brother would be a great pick for chancellor of the exchequer, seems there might be a vacancy there very soon. His sister could run the foreign office, or...any thing she chooses really! | smartypants
23/7/2019 16:41 | Car sector woes down to Brexit eh.... "Nissan Slashing Over 10,000 Jobs Globally, 7% Of Its Entire Workforce" What some auto manufacturers and industry experts were passing off as a slight hiccup for the auto industry is rapidly turning into a full-scale recession if not all out depression, one complete with a litany of layoffs in the global auto industry as sales in major countries like the United States and China have been steadily deteriorating for the last 18 months. We've already seen massive planned layoffs from US auto makers like Ford, and now Nissan is the latest to join the mass layoffs bandwagon, with Kyodo reporting that Nissan will cut over 10,000 jobs globally, or over 7% of its entire global workforce. Remain running out of lies to push fast..... | crossing_the_rubicon
23/7/2019 16:37 | Topped up today with a few more. this has been too dull for too long and could offer a 5%+ yield going forward. The Tories will pass any agreement from Boris now, even if it is the existing one with a few minor tweaks. There is nowhere for them to go now. Even the ERG will fall into line, out of ammunition. With a Merkel ally at the top of the EU. we stand a chance now, the Germans will try to give us a deal. A sensible deal voted through would cause a flood of cash into the FTSE companies. So many billions have been taken out of domestic shares because of Brexit. A voted through deal would drive LLOY to 80p by year end. | careful
23/7/2019 16:07 | Boris will be up against the wall of those with their snouts in the EU cash trough that need the UK to keep topping the trough up annually, just as May was ! | gbh2
23/7/2019 15:47 | ?Nigel Farage@Nigel_FarageI wish @BorisJohnsonwell as Prime Minister with his do or die pledge to deliver Brexit on October 31st. Does he have the courage to deliver?......If not Nigel Farage will be the next PM. The Conservative Party is on borrowed time and is looking at RIP. | xxxxxy

23/7/2019 15:21 | "Switzerland's UBS (NYSE:UBS). A net profit of $1.4B was UBS's best Q2 in nine years" Switzerland is outside the EU, yet their economy and banks doing well. | bit thick
23/7/2019 15:20 | I called it wrong again, I expected share price to drop when Bozzo announced as pm. Mind you, early days yet. | jordaggy
23/7/2019 15:09 | Brexit bonus from Barrie on the JTC thread.. | maxk
23/7/2019 15:01 | The 'Boris' factor could be seen as good for business due to the Trump liking him. I don't think we need worry about Brexit being any more likely underhis management. Parliament will scupper any shenanigans from him. | mitchy
23/7/2019 14:18 | A political stitch up .... Contempt of court utterly farcical. The British justice system is corrupt to the core. Worth revisiting this video... | crossing_the_rubicon
23/7/2019 14:13 | Will Bojo keep his bike...or will it appear on ebay?...it might fetch good money... | diku
23/7/2019 13:59 | British Comedian Ricky Gervais and his US counterpart Jerry Seinfeld recently discussed the difficultly of being comedians in a society where a swathes of people choose to be permanently offended at anything, and were immediately beseeched by people who were offended by what they said, proving their exact point. The background of the piece was this debate about whether to leave in a comment made by Seinfeld, which was purposefully supposed to rile up the snowflakes. | crossing_the_rubicon
23/7/2019 13:45 | Is that why Lloy is not showing signs of strength...just up on the coat tails of FTSE rise... Santander's profits meanwhile fell 18% from a year ago, but results were hurt by one-off restructuring costs from its acquisition of Banco Popular and a weak performance in Britain. SAN +1% premarket. | diku |
