Had a meeting with a fund manager today who holds Liontrust asked for their view on the stock, they have been reducing position partly as fund outflows are greater than inflows at the moment so they need to sell holdings to meet client redemption's.

He said management team were split on whether to sell out completely half thought get out due to the GAM debacle and ongoing management credibility the other half were positive but mainly due to mergers/takeovers in this sector.

I've sold half my stake for a loss into the bounce today still think sector is cheap as chips but sentiment firmly against at the moment but wouldn't be averse to doubling remaining stake again if the chart starts to make a firm upwards move.

I can only think its possibly Buffetology dumping at any price given no rns and fund outflows should be now priced in, looks cheap as chips but I thought that when it was a pound higher.

Mulling dumping most of mine tomorrow as seems to even go down on the odd market up day which is never a good sign.

Normal service resumed. It was very strange seeing blue numbers here for a moment!

I would like to think that the AUM drop is priced in looking at the share price chart but doubt it has hit bottom yet.

I've had enough and have dumped the remainder of my shares = probably a good time to buy!

Can anyone explain why, when they are doing such an incompetent job, they decided to have the AGM at one of the most expensive venues in the world?

You're right it's two years not one! Regrettably am away on the 21st, it should be amusing!

Well they were £25 two years ago. How's that for value destruction. Should have sold then.

I'm amazed by the lack of irate posts on here! With the FTSE100 still only 7% off its all time high it's hard to figure how an "Asset Management" firm can lose almost 70% of its value in a year. Very stoic bunch (or maybe there aren't any holders left who use advfn BBs)!

Edit: 70% in 2 years (still awful).

Yes. The GAM shareholders are going to find out now whether Newgame was just spoiling Liontrust's bid or have a viable plan. There is now a certain amount of schadenfreude watching from the side lines.

Can GAM afford to pay the £9m due without having trouble with their regulatory capital, I wonder?

So why did they go through the palarver of bidding and then getting rejected? Just had to bide their time and pick up cheaply.
