MMD - Those dividends are historical. On the assumption that the market is forward-looking, it is not the $0.10 final dividend that is driving the price forwards this morning. Either results are better than forecast or there is some other factor in there that I haven't identified yet. Will be interesting to see what comes out of the conference call.

I guess this is the part you like the most, Garycook:

Dividends

The Lancashire Board declared the following dividends during 2016:

-- A final dividend relating to 2015 of $0.10 per common share;
-- An interim dividend of $0.05 per common share; and
-- A special dividend of $0.75 per common share.

I make it $0.9 = 72p approx = 10% yield approx at current shareprice levels...

It seems that the Final was announced last year on the 18th February. Do we have any indication as to when info will be forthcoming for 2017?

Thanks.

My current estimates re: the next div:
Results: 20-March
X/D: circa 3-April
P/D: X/D + [just under] 4 weeks

The 'historic' base-line for this div has been US$0.10
In 2014 [20c] and 2015 [50c] they additionally paid a Special div alongside the baseline.
In 2016 this seasonal Special was stopped due to losses, both insurable ones plus something of an exodus of key-staff from the Cathedral insurer they had recently taken over.
But in 2016 I don't recall talk of any material headline losses. Has anyone else? I'm mulling the odds of the Spring Special being reinstated this year.

It's going to be interesting seeing to what extent the recent £ weakness vs majority non-£ income boosts the bottom line.

That FX move alone equates to +13.9% YOY on $ profit translated into the £div

Thanks Speeds I've been waiting for the actual FX rate.
Still rather confused why it took them 2.5 weeks to publish it since it being set on the Record Date [18-Nov]. Perhaps shareholder enquiries reminded them it wasn't declared yet...
