21/10/2014 11:59 | Having read the posts of the last two days from respected posters who had decided to sell on the news of the FD's departure, I was wondering, last night, whether I had done the right thing by continuing to hold, as I reflected on the last two days share price fall. ...until this morning, of course, when I read today's RNS. One does have to question though, whether there has been a falling out at Board level over the quantum of profit to be recognised on this completed contract? It would have been helpful if a reason had been given for the FD's departure. | puzzler2

21/10/2014 09:33 | Oil services group Lamprell expects a financial windfall after completing construction of a second oil and gas rig for an unidentified client. Lamprell said it had finished building the Caspian Sea jackup drilling rig, the "Mercury", ahead of time, which meant it would be able to release contingencies held for the project which will have a "significant positive impact" on its 2014 financial results. The group will deliver the rig in the coming month, after which it is expected to be used on its first contract elsewhere in the Caspian Sea alongside its sister vessel, the "Neptune" rig, which was delivered in November 2013. Chief executive Jim Moffat said: "Our strong operational performance both in the United Arab Emirates and Astrakhan allowed us to take advantage of the milder recent weather and complete construction activities on the rig ahead of schedule | broadwood
21/10/2014 09:21 | excellent timing and IR!!! I wish some others would learn from this (gkp and xel!!!!) | tipjunkie
21/10/2014 07:40 | Just what the doctor ordered! The second half results could now look (ahem) surprisingly good. Next up - a contract win please. JMHO GLA | plunger2
21/10/2014 07:15 | Lamprell (ticker: LAM), a leading provider of fabrication, engineering and contracting services to the onshore and offshore oil & gas and renewable energy industries, is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed construction of the second Caspian Sea jackup drilling rig, the "Mercury". Completion of this rig is another significant milestone for the Group, particularly as it has been built under challenging conditions but with an excellent safety record and several weeks ahead of schedule. In light of this and further to the Company's announcement on 28 August 2014, timely completion enables the Company to release contingencies held in connection with this project which will have a significant positive impact on the 2014 financial results. The "Mercury" is the second vessel that Lamprell has built for this client. Delivery of this rig will take place in the coming month and the rig is then expected to commence operations on its first contract elsewhere in the Caspian Sea alongside its sister vessel, the "Neptune" rig, which was delivered in November 2013. A number of key operational improvements, learnt from this first rig project, were successfully implemented onto the "Mercury" project allowing Lamprell to complete as planned. | skinny

20/10/2014 18:48 | I'm out of LAM finally. At 137p close and the mystery of the departure of the CFO in my view there is something nasty just about to come round the corner. Can't be sure of course but I think the market has got a whiff of something. Made a decent profit which has been eroded the last few days but decided enough is enough. When a CFO departs suddenly there is usually an unpleasant reason and I don't want to be IN when the s--- hits the proverbial fan. | todismypal
20/10/2014 12:21 | I always take it as a bad sign when the CFO makes a hasty exit, but then again, maybe it's different this time around? As long as there is nothing really fishy going on I think the current state of affairs is pretty clear? For what it's worth I'm quite happy with Moffat as he seems to have a good grip on things. Also, for once I'm amazed that I was right in calling a sub 160p move. I will make small top ups in this sub 140p range and hope we get some normalisation in the share price soon... quick recovery to around 160ish? Time will tell... GTA. | gta5

19/10/2014 12:11 | I think 6 mts notice would make little sense but maybe 3 would have been better than 1. It is notable that we now have a DCFO so the BOD will have to think clearly about what extra a new FD brings to the table. I would prefer to see a more analyst friendly approach; not sure what the BOD's position is on this. Normally - like some have opined - I take a dim view of sudden departures by FDs. However this is an older person coming late in her career to the ME and not coming directly from a previous FD job. I have little doubt that she had the ability but the working conditions must be a "fit" also. One might speculate as to why the RNS is slightly terse. My take is that JC was "expected" to stay for at least 2 years regardless and therefore the BOD are slightly *issed at the situation. I was surprised they got JC as quickly as they did; perhaps it was just a lucky break that didn't work out. I would be amazed if "there's something up" as has been speculated. JK and JM have too many miles on the clock to be ducking an issue. The FCA has crawled all over the Co and not that long ago. So what's needed really is contract wins; the financial side looks in very good shape relative to 1-2 years ago - so I don't see that as an issue. JMHO GLA | plunger2
19/10/2014 11:15 | She may not have settled but would that really warrant here leaving without a notice period? Surely she could give 3-6 months notice rather than leave instantly? Anyway - will watch and see. CR | cockneyrebel
19/10/2014 10:58 | Yes - I echo the thoughts of others. This is not welcome news, but there you go. Something has happened as she only joined a year ago and the RNS doesn't shed any light on things. It could be she didn't settle in the Gulf - who knows? Either way, LAM need stability and continuity. High profile CFO's skipping in and out of the business is not going to get us very far. | sigala
19/10/2014 09:53 | Whilst strange bear in mind that sometimes people just do not settle in the Middle East and you either leave quickly or end up staying for far longer than you imagined. Very much a blow as she did come across very well. | deanowls
18/10/2014 19:25 | Interesting. I too sold my last 10K last week. Every trade in LAM has been highly profitable for me and I wasnt about to end that run, so for the time being Im on the subs bench. Not quite as nice as being 300% up on my best trade since playing with LAM but out with a few quid. Shame I didnt have the same foresight with KAZ :( Lots of bargains out there right now for those with a long term view. Oh and my reasons are probably like others, although I wasnt expecting the CFO to go awol, that said I also dont think there will be an RNS soon either, just my view dyor etc. Hope Im wrong for holders. | adp
18/10/2014 12:58 | Tip and CR I think you have a valid point re the CFO departure. It seems odd to me that suddenly she is gone. There has to be some underlying reason we are not privy to (yet) The effect on the share price is unknown - it could already be factored in or could yet to have an effect when it is eventually made public. Like TIP I have my grubby finger hovering on the sell button but will give it a few more days in the hope of the long awaited contract RNS | todismypal
18/10/2014 10:07 | Yes CR, I thought she made an excellent presentation also...I'm still in for the moment pending further contract news hopefully | tipjunkie
18/10/2014 09:56 | I was quite surprised at the departure of the CFO. Having listened to the results presentation where she played quite a confident part it's strange that she left without notice imo. It makes me wonder if part of the fall here has been down to something at the co that has cost her her job. When CFO's go without notice I'm always wary. Sold the last of my holding Friday to place safe and will watch with interest. All imo/dyor etc. CR | cockneyrebel
17/10/2014 19:03 | I think theres more to come yet unfortunately, long term ok, short term rocky ride for the brave | adp
17/10/2014 08:33 | Oil stronger today and some banks disputing oversupply. Good opportunity at these levels looking at chart. | phowdo
17/10/2014 08:23 | The CFO's imminent departure seems to have been welcomed by the markets in that we are actually up - something that has not happened in a long time. That said until the markets generally stabilise ( US in particular) the share price here is in for a volatile time. Oh for a decent contract RNS !!!!! | todismypal
17/10/2014 08:23 | bt Yes they did imho, maybe a mbo coming. regards active | srpactive
17/10/2014 07:53 | Agree with your "sterile" description. I'm not sure that she had been in a permanent executive position directly ahead of this appointment. Maybe the commitment, rather late in her career, was too taxing either physically or domestically; she certainly seemed able. Neither JK nor JM will be happy about her only staying 1 year, 2 should have been a minimum if you were taking up the post. Both Curin and Nelson were relatively "old timers" so we'll see what they dig up this time. In any event the DCFO looks experienced enough. We'll just have to see what the market makes of it. JMHO | plunger2
17/10/2014 07:50 | Hi Tod, Fair enough regarding LAM's position. However, I'm now wondering as you are why the CFO went within a year wasn't it? Did the market get wind of it, hence it's recent price fall and not to do with the Oil price currently? | bulltradept
17/10/2014 07:31 | So the Chief Finance Officer has decided to leave. She doesn't appear to have lasted long. Wonder what the real reason is/was as opposed to the sterile RNS just announced. What will be the effect on todays SP? | todismypal |
