Nice spot plunger2 - that would be a nice fillip to the share if they reinstate the divi.

Doing the earnings now to do it. Divi forecast next year either way and 2% so not a token divi.

All imo/dyor etc.

Yes they need to pay a divi

Not wishing to bang on about it but LAM looks very conservatively managed by this team so I think "electric" price movements are unlikely. However CR is correct to point out the graph imo; mostly because the market's lack of interest in LAM has failed to re-rate it. I could still see a move to the £2 area based on only 2 things: (a) another order (b) successful delivery of the 2nd Caspian rig.

And here's a teaser for you:

That's the LAM FH page; and I note that this version has re-instated the space for "Dividend". If they were to actually pay a divi - say after the full year results - that would make the price very happy indeed. Just conjecture but you never know.........

Definitely not Hatetrader - QPP still in a stonking downtrend imo - children in tears there again soon imo. And it's carp AIM, run by a buch of less than competents, with past naughty form imo.

Really? I think it looks every bit as clever, in fact with the price off so much it looks even more clever imo.

"Full year outturn anticipated to be ahead of expectations predominantly due to projected continuing strong operational performance and initial savings from procurement activities"

That was at the interims and a bold statement to say the full year will be ahead of expectations at the interim results. But then H1 results were about what was expected for the full year nearly :-)

I'd look at those big spike norths on the chart - you want to be long when they happen imo - no good buying when you're half way up one if you want the full benefit imo.

Its red everywhere today, take a look around, loads of stocks all heading the wrong way. By flook I sold out of KAZ, just before that fell off a cliff but its the same story everywhere. Its just the general direction at the moment imho.

Suddenly LAM isn't looking quite so clever. With the share price now at 156p and no RNS around to give a boost I am beginning to doubt my wisdom in buying back in after pocketing a decent profit. Having made a small profit on the back of the AFR debacle perhaps its time to call it day with stock markets. The problem is where can you put your cash for a semi decent return - I have tried the P2P with good returns but there again anyone going down this path is not covered by the Financial Compensation scheme. There again interest rates of over 6% are attractive and even 4.5% on 18 months is excellent with little risk

With the co saying results would be 'ahead' and a new board, this chart is looking great for a top up around here to many I'd imagine:

Further to my earlier post 13644 above, concerning a contractor turnaround situation I lived through, and the similarities between the actions of the CEO who changed and saved my employer, to those of LAM's new man, today's RNS from Balfour Beatty indicates a very similar situation in terms of lax and overly optimistic forecasting / reporting at contract level.

If my expectations with regard to BBY are right, the new CEO, when he is appointed, will no doubt implement the same sort of changes that my old CEO and Lam's new one, have done. That probably means that BBY's next results will be a "kitchen sink" job, at least as far as the construction side is concerned, after which they may have far more cautious contract forecasting, and plenty of "provision" cushioning to smooth out future progress - I'll watch them with interest having worked quite closely with them in the past a few times as a muckshift contractor, as I think the shares could be interesting next Summer.

Anyway, apologies if this post seems a bit off topic, but BBY's RNS was a perfect illustration of the point in my earlier post.
Regards.

well, I'm heavily invested here, but I still think it will drop below 160p in the near term.

long term i look forward to the glorious former heights of 300p+, but it's gonna take some shrewd manoeuvring by mr Moffat and will require a lot more large contracts and a bid pipeline well above todays numbers. oh, and a reinstated dividend of course...

For now, I'm keeping a close eye on it and will purchase more on any dips...

Good luck,

GTA.

Oh and see whoever bought 44,000 shares today had to pay 2p above the highest mid price we saw all day. There are very very few sellers here.

Yes but the chart isn't really accurate. With the rights issue shares are really trading at the equivalent of 180 so there is only blue sky and lots of it ahead.

plunger2 - yep, I have LAM down for FTSE250 entry at the next reshuffle in Dec imo.

Interim Management Statement mid Nov will give it the boost for entry imo.

Assuming no further contract wins this could be the catalyst for the next leg up:

Our next major delivery period commences in November with the planned handover of the second Caspian Sea rig, which is now in the commissioning phase. This project had been identified as a key project with significant potential risk around completion, due to the losses suffered on and lessons learned from delivery of the first Caspian Sea rig in 2013. While we have been making good progress on the project, we continue to take a conservative view on completion because of previous experience on the first Caspian Sea rig and weather extremes in the region. We are understandably working hard towards the scheduled delivery date and, if delivered successfully as planned, this could have a material positive impact on the financial results of the Company for 2014.

CR - my view would be same as yours. Just to add:

1. 6 Shareholders own a combined 71%+ of LAM; we must assume they are holders;

2. At 170p LAM is just outside the FT 250 Index;

So if price momentum develops then Index Trackers could have to buy LAM (with its small free float) adding to a possible spike.

It can only be conjecture but there are at least reasons why a spike could happen; I think we need new contracts to set us off.

Spike ups on LAM are extremely sharp at times - I think if you're not long when one of these kick off then trying to get a decent lump once one starts will be a bit tough imo.

I'd sooner hold and wait for a rally myself - each to their own tho.

All imo/dyor etc.
