25/9/2018 07:55 | Had May offered 'chequers' as the Brexit option in 2016 she'd have been told the same by the UK electorate, and has now. | fireplace22
24/9/2018 19:00 | According to Hansard 253 MP's voted against Cameron's referendum bill - many spoke passionately against it in parliament. Yet, after the referendum result going against them - most if not all of these disingenuous charlatans are now saying they want another one! Democracy? What Democracy? | mount teide
24/9/2018 18:46 | mroalan - any speech that can make Verhofstadt's face look like he's running a marathon with a six inch nail in his shoe is worth listening to. Over a third of MEP's receive regular and substantial political stipends from Soros - including Guy 'four jobs' Verhofstadt. How does he find the time to do all these jobs? Likewise arch Europhile the nauseatingly arrogant Lord Patton who as BBC Chairman told one Tory MP he was "impertinent" for asking him during a select committee appearance what hours he actually worked for the BBC. Patton told the MP he had no intention of answering the question. The Tory MP immediately followed it up by saying the reason the electorate has a right to know is because according to HOL records you have 11 other very well paid jobs, while the Guardian claims you are under-declaring your employment which they believe is actually 14 jobs. The shareholders of those companies like the electorate would probably also like to know what hours you're actually putting in for them? Ouch! Patton went red and very quiet and then mustering what little credibility he had left told the Committee what hours he 'worked' for the BBC. | mount teide
24/9/2018 18:12 | Italy 10yr Yield was up 4.2% today at 2.95% having previously had a good run off the back of calming comments from Government. Unfortunately that confidence has been undone over the weekend. | jtcod
24/9/2018 16:51 | Bond markets are where it is happening. US 30-year Treasury yield is 3.217% +0.021%. A close at this level would be a 4-year high and encourage new porfolio adjustment. UK 30s are 1.962% +0.064%. Is Fed selling overwhelming the market? Rising longer Treasury yields will encourage higher mortgage rates, lower share buy-backs, selling of yield shares, selling of junk bonds, and selling of emerging markets everything. Things are looking set to get interesting. | aleman

24/9/2018 11:19 | Re: Trump & Italian debt. Divide and conquer - Trump can (he hopes) more easily bully divided opponents. He’ll be cheered on by many who he would willingly screw over. | blusteradjuster
24/9/2018 09:14 | I wonder if Trump will make good on a reported promise to buy Italian debt. It would be interesting to see how the ECB would react to such a move. Trump likes to throw curve balls that’s for sure. | jtcod
24/9/2018 08:51 | "The Italian government has to set its borrowing and growth targets this week and provide a draft budget to the European Commission by the middle of October." | jtcod

24/9/2018 08:32 | They are riding the current mood of euro-scepticism exemplified by what May said then. | fireplace22
24/9/2018 08:24 | Haha I hardly think they would look to May for courage. | jtcod
24/9/2018 08:16 | Italian govt on the offensive emboldened by Mays diatribe perhaps! | fireplace22
24/9/2018 08:10 | “We’ll do a courageous budget, the deficit isn’t a problem,” I wonder if in the end the Italian Government may have a greater affect on the uk economy than Brexit will. | jtcod
