Dazza: How come when the FT says 450% rise "Lord C" has not down marked it????

Why is the FTs 450% rise considered an up tick and mine "jibberish".... I cannot fathom the mind set of "Lord C" at all!

As of Jan 28, 2017, the consensus forecast amongst 3 polled investment analysts covering Johnston Press plc advises that the company will outperform the market. This has been the consensus forecast since the sentiment of investment analysts improved on Aug 04, 2016. The previous consensus forecast advised investors to hold their position in Johnston Press plc.

From the FT no less

karlos885: If it got into the 30s from here it would be a multibagger.. If it got to 22p it would be OK for us..

But for CA to get out at 30p the price for small trades will probably have to be in the 50s otherwise the share price will not be able to sustain their selling..

Thus, all I am saying, is selling at 22p (the recent high) is not the full picture. They must be aiming for about 50p...

The numbers do not stack up otherwise... They have to have a price where they can get out and still leave a profit in it for the next person who buys it off them...

They must have a plan otherwise why buy a shed load at about 17p-20p? It makes no sense unless the price, at some point in the next 12 months gets to a STRONG 40p to 50p range (strong in the sense that there are buyers willing to come in at that price and still expect a profit in 24 months).

curtains, it's time to open the thick curtains in your house and let some light in, i am worried it will be curtains for JPR. I am in the industry first hand myself, and can only see the value if the I comes up trumps, all the rest of the publications are fighting dwindling profits. Nobody will buy a sinking ship when the parts will eventually be finders keepers. CA will force some value here at some point hopefully, but don't expect a multi bagger from here. CA may force a change in management but who will takeover, maybe you know?

Lol Eddy. You and Dazza in particular are and always have realistic posts - thoughtful and do enjoy reading your posts. CA may have a executed a bold move - not too convinced that other shareholders are on board with them - but they should be - it is in their interests to realise value. It will take time judging by their proven track record with Thorntons et al. Big fall today - surprised really - update due - market risk adverse perhaps but could surprise. Orbis selling although we don't know if a premium - JPR's largest shareholder crystalising an epic loss after all those years was surprising and tbh shocking but Institutions make their decision and that's it. Seen them rise after a heavy seller and seen them fall - but to be fair not as much percentage wise. Update will be the key and forward looking statement. Interesting for me not that I am a holder but an employee of circa 20 years - (although a holder many times) only my SIPS at a slight loss at 28 pence before RI and consolidation). Want the LT holders to really get back and perhaps a profit within the medium term at least and for JPR to turn itself around - yes my pension is protected - 90 percent if the worst happens but working there was a large part of my life and in the early days loved the buzz of the culture - and getting the papers out on time where intended and as they should be produced quality and printed. Still in printing and massive brands - but still enjoyed reading the FT hot off the press - at the time in 2008 with the credit crunch I started trading shares.

Well at least I know the crank who marks posts down - Its "Lord C" (He's the only one here with a paid for user account)... Not a person who likes to bargain hunt obviously.

But seriously WE ARE ALL HERE as LONG investors for the exact same reason.
We can see some recovery potential in the price. Some are longer than others...

If you look at the 19th century cotton industry there was a company that went down the shoot like all the others - COATS (ticker COA)... This year its share price has doubled. The reason? Making things (thanks to TV shows such as: Bake Off, Sewing Bee and Kirstie's homemade home have sent the share price through the roof)...

Now, who can say, perhap, for all we know, JPR might start printing well known bloggers and this market takes off - we just do not know where Fashion goes.. But nevertheless, we are all here because we think JPR stands a very good chance of making us money..

So Lord C can vote me down (we all know its you) but we also know that YOU ARE HERE TOO for the MONEY... You too think its going UP.. You are just COY to admit it!!!

And you are becoming weak minded. However, we both hope jpr will go up. If it doesn't go far, I suspect you'll be more disappointed than I will.

Nonsense, you misunderstand fashion. PRINT is unfashionable but vinyl is fashionable.

There will be a time, its probably just around the corner, when you will see a student, sitting in a bar with a printed newspaper spread over the beer stained table and he (or she) will look really cool.

You think print has to decline - it does not. You are becoming a weak investor. Be strong, bold and positive. This baby is going up NORTH and its not just to 22p its going the whole hog.
