The big question is why Buy JPR and not Trinity Mirror.
What is the answer?

Pensions?

For reasons stated in an earlier post Sunday publishing is not as simplistic as you say. That said the "news of the world" has vacated the top spot and their old, sorry, I meant former readers must be fed up with the second best, now instead of a new highbrow and we publish 1/2 and 1/2 covering all the needs of a decent human being I can see Rupert looking over his shoulder.

...I dont know, news flow over the next few months could be quite interesting. People might be beginning to think of bunging a grand or two into their ISAs just in case it takes off. If the TRUE odds are 10:1 but the bookie is giving you 100:1 you might be silly not to take it. It really depends on how high the stock might go on recovery..

The one thing I do know is large numbers of people do buy their local paper and a paper on Sunday. If "I" came out on Sunday, in my mind, the share price will rise. If JPR sold any local papers the share price, in my mind, will rise, if adverting revenue from "I" increased the share price will rise. If the Scotman began to recover in Scotland the share price will rise. If the debt mountain decreased the share price will rise. There are lots of reasons why it might go up and the risk reward might make it worth it

Tiny volume beefcurtains - there's nothing to see here. This could sink slowly as usual next week. Unless the one person doing the buying actually knows something.

Lord C: totally 100% reverse of the truth... Just use the same shops, same printing presses, same journalists - and bung in on Sunday, minimal extra costs but potentially 50% increase in advertising revenue and circulation (sunday big numbers can happen).

Launching newspapers is always a game fraught with danger ( ask Carlisle 2016) launching a Sunday anytime even more financially dangerous and in the current tech climate sheer madness.
To date current JPR management have called very few decisions correctly - launching a Sunday will cost them dearly in both cash and jobs.

Shareholder approval will most likely be given next week to sell Johnston Publishing East Anglia Limited, then we should hear in the months ahead they have been buying debt back at a discount.

All this and CA in the backround makes for an interesting recovery bet.

And I'm gone at the first whiff of a rights issue; I'll be back to watching from afar Dazz. I might even short. I'm hoping for a change of management to save jpr but since Ah has outlasted the chairman it'll probably have to be a buyout. Rich B's been quiet - I wonder what's going on at Crystal.

If it involves the share price recovering it'll be a big surprise :)

I would be surprised given all the activity that occurred last year without a sustained breakout that this will continue, if it does it will make the analysts look even dopier and me for believing that AH starting all those years ago not improving the share price and the almost de rigeur rights issue for jpr, is it me expecting too much too soon. Mrx wished for and didn't receive his takeover, LC's whinging about the demise of all things not printed from molten lead castings, me saying we would see a steady sustained rise in the share price and the many others serious investors here who try to divine the perceived mistakes or the decisions of Jpr to no avail ........ so far but this is a new year and many scenes could, will be played and there might just be one that will take us by surprise.

No eddy not yet as we know there has been too many false dawns in this renaissance even leonardo's patience would be tried so until it gets to 20p and stays there for at least 48hrs and rising then or a jump of 20p followed by another in close pursuit but am I being too ......... however as luck would have it on my weekend jaunt to the tip some one asked me if I wanted a clean hardly used mattress for a fiver, of course initially I refused and offered a quid well we bartered and I have to say I'm the proud owner of a mattress on taking it home to debug I did notice an odd shaped bulge, I will investigated further when the DDT dust has settled so I'll let you know but I'm feeling lucky.

Dazzaa: No its considered very right wing and unionist.
I think that will be a hurdle to over come if it wants a mass market in Scotland.

Well I am surprised I always thought the Scotsman took a neutral stand on politics when Andrew Neil was editor it certainly was neutered.

I've been posting for years too and have changed my position. Not here but on the Scotsman website (hence my interest here)

For many years (on and off) I used to write on the Scotsman website being really strongly anti-SNP (as was the Scotsman at that time - not sure now as I no longer live in Scotland)..

Both of us (the scotsman and myself) would have done economically better had we taken a more politically neutral stance on Scottish INDY. I've changed my mind 75% since those days (I'm a Corbynista ).

Why should the Guardian soak up all those readers - the Scotsman ought to go hard/soft left for economic reasons - there are more readers on the left for "serious" newspapers - Right wingers tend not to change readership patterns quickly (older) - the Scotsman ought to go politically left and soft on Indy... That should help ramp up the numbers.
