I am long too and looking to add, like you, but hard to read the bottom. Agreed this is a superbly run co and long term i think as safe as it gets. We just live in difficult times at the moment. Suddenly most oilers seem to out of favour and over done.

dextroisomerism: Did you buy in at the 380?

WG is currently trading around the 363p level and with more 'bad news' said to be comung from the U.S. banking sector later this week ....its still a policy of 'wait and watch' for me.

dex... how would u compare wg. with CAPE? or even PFC. I thought the latter is a strong performer with strong H1 results. Surely CAPE is a better buy then WG.?

They seem to get support which won't let them go below 380 - if they get down to that level again, I will buy in.

Somewhat volatile at present.

By way of example :-
392.5 on the offer @ 09.34 : 384.25 @ 09.51 : 3.91 @ 10.13.

If you feel its an opportunity to buy then set a limit and walk away for the medium term is my advice !

dextroisomerism: Noted. I'm pleased that you'vee underwritten your AMEC investment . I agree that in the medium term there is upside with AMEC particularly with regard to the Nuclear waste issue. What was the gist of the FT comment?

The good thing about both the AMEC and WG. bulletin boards is that comments are limited in number and most contributors appwear to be genuine .

If the DOW continues to weaken over the next two months or so , doubtless the anticipated slide in global markets will provide some very good buying opportunities and AMEC and WG are two such companies.

Wendsworth - I sold 10% of my holding in AMEC - very positive comments about AMEC in the FT yesterday.
WG is a quality company. I suppose that if I am waiting on the side to buy in, there are thousands like me - so they may not drop much further.

dextroisomerism: I still think this share has further to fall in the short term despite it falling some 50 points over the week .

The market has yet to factor in the DOW's further fall yesterday ...DOWN another 246 points .

The questions I'm asking myself are :- why buy these back NOW ? Why not wait ?

I do hope you took my advice to box in some of your AMEC profits as that share has fallen some 38 points over the week.

If the DOW continues to fall at such a relenting rate the impact on global markets is obvious . Unfortunately in such circumstances normal trading logic foe specific shares tends to be forgotten!

Wait and watch is working. I thought I had missed the chance to buy in, but the recent drop has now made the price very tempting.
