27/12/2012 16:08 | I don't buy on margin - not clever enough. | ![]() brucie5
27/12/2012 15:09 | Of the oilies, EXI and HOIL. I bought into TPL just days before the farmin, but also managed to sell before it too - so another mistiming. I call this the Brucie effect. That said, I'm reasonably happy to be wrong on smaller decisions, to avoid being wrong on major ones.. As in: taking a principled stance, to keep a share that just loses value. FXPO is an interesting share atm - seems to be well overlooked, but Mr. Wong at Investor Intelligence alerted me to it, and it seems to be making a promising reversal. Generally, retail seems to be where the current momentum is, and I hold a few, such as PHTM, DXNS, HOME, MCB, THT. Missed out on TCG. GL for 2013. Let's hope we avoid the Fiscal Cliff. | ![]() brucie5
27/12/2012 13:50 | I was out a couple of weeks ago at at 69/70 level. So probably timed it right at the bottom, and can't really understand this valuation. But first cut is always the kindest.. Still watching, but market is full of less ambiguous opportunities atm. ie. ones that are already going up! | ![]() brucie5
25/12/2012 13:08 | Fancy a challenge and put your skills to the test!? Here are the oil stock competitions that sort out the boys/girls from the men/women! ;-) :-) Merry Xmas and Happy & Exciting New Year to All!!!!!!!! fb | ![]() flyingbull
24/12/2012 17:12 | That was a very large increase in short interest in the last few days....it really does seem as if someone in the know knows something that is not going to play out well. If the company is aware of some sort of material issue either good or bad they are obliged to issue an RNS so I guess we will just have to wait and see. | ![]() salpara111

24/12/2012 11:42 | why would short interest increase 8 fold when the stock is already at a 4 yr low....unless someone knows something we don't... | ![]() deanroberthunt

20/12/2012 14:50 | g8ta. I suggested Credit Suisse because: a) the $9.5m could fund most of the stock on loan (but is probably just coincidence) b) I have read about some "interesting" deals that they have been involved with in the past. Collateral is a possibility. I was hoping for ideas from people conversant with dealing strategies so that I could learn something. | ![]() hashertu
20/12/2012 14:17 | ah ok - I was checking they hadn't 'swapped' a load of shares or something, as a form of collateral | ![]() jezza123
20/12/2012 14:06 | jezza123 - I'm afraid I do not fully understand derivatives, so will have difficulty explaining the little I know of it. Basically I understand that JKX has "sold forward" part of their crude oil to pay $3.3/month for the loan (36000bbls/month @ $94 = $3.38m). | g8ta
20/12/2012 13:02 | g8ta - so what does a 'pre-paid swap agreement mean' - what did they 'swap'? | ![]() jezza123
20/12/2012 12:43 | hashertu From the Annual Report 2011 "In the first half of the year the Group raised funds through entering into a prepaid swap arrangement with Credit Suisse and drew cash of $49.5m after expenses in June 2011. A portion of the proceeds ($9.5m) was deposited in a debt service reserve over which Credit Suisse has security and which is restricted exclusively to pay amounts due under the facility." From interims - Page 11 "Total cash at the end of the period was $20.3m including restricted cash, compared to 31 December 2011 total of $28.9m. Restricted cash of $9.5m will be used to settle the Credit Suisse monthly payments from October through to the end of its term in December." | g8ta
20/12/2012 12:12 | Interesting to see that the number of shares short has increased again in the last few days, not by that much but now standing at 12m. Still sitting on my hands here. | ![]() salpara111 |
