Evianone. This is due to BA's policy of scheduling flights, say three times a day to a European destination, then cancelling two of them and squeezing everybody on to the one flight.Cannot remember the last time I booked a flight with them which was not cancelled.

The redundancies are to do with ground staff in Spain, re org of resort bag drops etc.J2 like many airlines need more pilots, they won't be making them redundant.Pilot salaries are not generally scaled with years of svc at J2, so no incentive to pay off people like legacy carriers sometimes do.

It's not unusual for airlines to offer voluntary redundancy or retirement packages to some of long serving crew. They're expensive to have.

redundancies on the flight deck suggests lower than planned availability of aircraft is the principal constraint on growth. Taking that into account I still think that 7~9% volume growth over the medium term is possible. On that basis I think a fair share price is about £20.
I remember when the backbone of the fleet comprised well used aircraft refurbished to be safe and look nice on the inside. Could we see the return of some of that subject to esg and economic considerations?

Jet2 has confirmed redundancies are planned as part of a review of operations across Spain.

Unconfirmed local reports suggested that around 35% of 996 staff based at airports in Alicante, Palma, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura could be affected.

Changes to Jet2holidays’ in-resort flight check-in have been cited while flight and cabin crew are also affected.

A 30-day period of consultation with unions involved over potential redundancies has been instigated.

A company spokesperson said: “We have recently reviewed our operations in Spain.

“As a result, we must sadly propose a number of colleague redundancies across resort flight check-in, flight deck and cabin crew roles.

“We deeply regret these proposed redundancies, and we will be consulting with appropriate representatives of the affected colleagues to ensure that all options are fully considered.”

The company in the past (like others in the trade) has differentiated between west and east Med, and i think there is more scope on market share to the east.

Long haul is another kettle of fish and it's very expensive to get out wrong. It would be interesting to see TUIs UK division profitablity between 737 and 787 routes.

I seem to remember some big wig saying they need to double in size in the next few years. They've got The UK to the Mediterranean stitched up, surely they need to start flying West no?

Aberdean I don't see working logistically. It serves the oil industry hugely but for the investment to get in I'm not sure you'd see a return. What's the population up there within an hour's drive, can't imagine it's significant.I'm surprised jet2 went for Bournemouth over Southampton. I thought with their runway extension they'd have been begging operators to come in.

I think they've pretty much got the whole of the UK covered now with the addition of Bournemouth and Liverpool bases. Aberdeen next maybe?

Things that would see the share price get there quicker. Pratt & Witney/ airbus deliver issues solved.EASA AOC, European strategic bases. A wiff of a private takeover. What next for Jet2 is a question that is currently going unanswered.

By any reasonable metric is min of 25 quid.

It will soon have as much net cash as its market cap. It currently has circa 2b net cash and is generating 600m FCF per year.

read a forecast yesterday by an American broker who sees £40.00 a share

Based on 20/25% compound growth.

Clearly they feel the current rating is far too low ( it should be double where we are ) based on
Cash
profits rising rapidly to 1 billion

The brand value

So lots to think about there the one thing we all agree is that current valuation is way off a fair value.
Some of the reasons given have been
Wrong market (AIM)

COST of new planes.

However i feel we are coming out of a serious squeeze on incomes and the market should get much stronger in the next few years.

Thoughts please

I believe one of the smaller Turkish operators has lost its right to fly in European airspace. Even if the routes weren't served directly by Jet2 it's good news. Those who were booked or considering them now are more likely to end up travelling with jet2.

On Ryanair’s multiple and I would argue we are a stronger business with a better balance sheet and growing faster our share price would be circa 26 quid. The reason it hasn’t retraced it’s 40 percent gain lately is because it’s still extremely undervalued.

I normally don’t like buying a share that’s risen so much lately but aim has created a unique opportunity where in normal times this share has a route to a 40 quid valuation. It’s growth plan is impressive. Won’t be get rich quick but a strong add to a portfolio in a risky sector.
