Added at 414 ; surely this will revisit a fiver before too long?

Someone just bought 23 different lots of 1200 shares at 405p over a minute or so. Presumably a Bot that does not collect trading charges! Or trying not to trigger a volume buy limit?

401 limit buy set . Long term strategy.

Added back at 428 ; sharp drop today. The spread has narrowed too. Today's share price graph is misleading ; still suggesting a 435 midprice .

Further share price drop , will be buying back some more soon I think.

Hi Z, 5% profit net of dealing fees , was not xd when I sold , so no dividend but capital gain instead. The special wasn't worth hanging on for in my view. I still have some other earlier sells here to buy back but waiting for more weakness , still suspect this is a little overvalued. Utilities look good to me , though have been buying more UU and SSE. I prefer to keep a close eye on about 50 stocks so have little knowledge outside my list.

Wad collector Is the 5% with the Feb special divi? Sold 1K at 5.1 but have kept a useful amount. Out of CNA and into NG, HHI.and PNN a couple of weeks ago. Not looking too bad a decision currently. Water companies will not need to capitalise new reservoirs etc or anyone have to capitalise a National Water Grid if the present weather trends continue but the will have to work at keeping the water drinkable. z

457 will do ; 5% in 2 months is ok , could have held for the dividend and be 4% down.

Might be time to buy back my holding looking at the drop , though spread still a bit wide.

wad collector - if they sold it what would they do with the proceeeds? They would look for a JHD type company to invest in/ take over. Hence I'm sure they are very happy with (not listening to) the status quo.

Would the Halstead family really sell out the family business? I guess if the price was high enough .

Of course the answer is - could be. But the p/e ratio is so high now that any purchase would be highly dilutive for the purchaser's shareholders, so I doubt it.

I am a recent shareholder. Does anyone think that they could be a bid target ?

People have been saying that for a long time (me for one in June 2014 when they were at 300p). I said I'd never sell my modest amount, but this has really tested me and I unloaded half today.

wad collector My selling of some BA. was prompted by a story that the Saudis inferred that if they continued to get criticism over their human rights etc they may not continue to buy British. Currently wish I had not seen that story. My most positive move over the past twelve months has been to build up an interest in Pennon which has better divi growth prospects than UU. Now hold both. Should I take a hit on CNA with this warm weather and possibly Shell acquiring BG.? Also nervous on GSK. z

I hate watching paper profits fade away , more than I hate missing bigger gains. QQ still looks a bit vulnerable to me ; it is not cash generative enough and carries too much hope of future earnings for me. I may yet snaffle some back. I keep adding SSE , I can't resist the yield. Good luck with your Blue Chip switch.

wad collector Never wrong to bank a profit, so they say. And you may have sold with the current divi as a bonus. Pity you did not get back into QQ. at the right price, as that is still rising. I sold some of our BA. (cum divi paid today)before the Paris atrocities and the current spending promises by HM government. Added GSK to pick up their next divi and the 20p bonus. GSK down and BA. up since I did that. Sweating on GSK getting further drugs approvals in the next couple of months/years otherwise I have boobed. z

Sold my last holding for 485 . I think this is a great company but think the share price has got ahead of itself .

Perhaps I am missing something , but is the news of a 7.8p special dividend and inline results worth the 28p share price rise?
