Two of AIM’s more honest companies, James Halstead and Quartix Holdings, from opposite ends of the age spectrum, continue to focus on nice clean numbers. New comment on our website.

Agreed elmfield - I do love JHD's no-nonsense approach to accounting and transparency. Too much obfuscation and cosmetic tarting up at too many companies.

"gripfit 25 Jul '18 - 08:44 - 1277 of 1277 0 0 0 In line with last year ??" Yes but qualified by the sentence directly above it in the release ... In line with best practice, we shall expense these costs rather than amortise or construct an adjustment to "underlying" earnings.

Pre-Close Statement. "......we are pleased to anticipate, once again, reporting record turnover and expect profits for the year to 30 June 2018 will be in line with last year" https://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/london/james-halstead-JHD/share-news/James-Halstead-PLC-Pre-Close-Trading-Statement/77926891

The Aiea bid news was 22nd May , wouldn't really explain a share price rise 4 week later. Mind you there is often no clear reason for a share price change , even if some analysts confidentally give their opinion that it is due to X. Sometimes just "Noise" .

I just checked the same thing and on 20/21 there were buys over 450, a large number of buys/sells of small quantities, which often happens with JHD and I've always assumed they were employee profit share scheme trades. There was also a big buy of 82100 at 451.7692. Anyway, I had assumed the rise was a reaction to the announcement that they wouldn't bid for AIEA. I am at a loss to explain the subsequent drop and pleased to see it going up again :-)

A lot of the apparent share price movements on the advfn graphs are a bit artefactual for JHD , they sometimes use the buy or sell prices as midprices for the graph, often on tiny volumes so most of the swings are not real. Not sure the selling prices went above about 430 earlier in month.

I remember in the late 90s when JHD and Airea (then Sirdar) were both aboyt £50 million market cap . Now one dreams of 50 million and the other is near £1 billion.

the steady slide in the share price continues at what level do holders feel it's good value to top up? If ADVFN data is to be trusted historical pe is still over 20 with EPS of 17.6p it doesn't yet seem cheap to me. 3800
