Pre Close Trading Statement

James Halstead plc, the commercial flooring manufacturer and distributor, is providing the following trading update ahead of its interim results for the half-year to 31 December 2016.

In his AGM trading update, on 2 December 2016, Mr. Geoffrey Halstead noted that trading to date had been challenging and making progress against the comparative half-year would be difficult. In addition, the Chairman commented on raw material shortages and price increases following supply chain problems.

Turnover has increased by some 3-4%, boosted by a confident December and profit is in line with expectations. The raw material issues have ameliorated to a degree and major retailer contracts continue with customers such as Vodafone, Co-op Retail, Specsavers and Premier Inn.

Confidence in the full year is unchanged and remains positive.

Karndean flooring !!!!!!!
Why not James Halstead flooring ?
Karndean is a JHD brand in Germany but not in the UK.

Camaro or Cavalio oe Expona.

AGM venue was very good - no goujons just good grub and freeby stuff
I grabbed a dozen pens, a couple of DVDs and other stuff.

Invested all my life for my retirement, which is now! :))
I'm now spending & helping the UK economy grow.
e.g., Karndean flooring now in my kitchen & bathroom. ; )
Enjoying breaks away in the UK, to places I've not been before.
etc., etc. :))

I assume the move to the Oldham Events Arena (I didn't realise they had events in Oldham) was something to do with it being close to the offices and warehouse.

Anyway, even I drew the line at that trek for a free buffet, so I can't pass judgement on the goujons or cheeseboard :-)

Spending the dividends? Surely you realise that money is solely for investment purposes?

Might even go to an AGM again if JHD stop the Tour de Lancashire and have their meetings at a regular venue. Where next year? Somewhere with easy transport links hopefully.

The AGM statement ends quite positive:

"Our cash balances have grown and continue to be solid underpinning the 8.5p dividend to be proposed today - an increase of 8.2% on that of last year and continuing our long history of dividend growth. I remain confident in the prospects of the Company going forward."
