Huckers, yes good question.

Logically if discretion is involved rather than simply being systemic - you would reduce buyback activity if you anticipated lower prices ahead otherwise why not simply exercise the maximum allowed purchase in ratio to volume?

It’s really odd, I track the stats as you know and it’s not proceeding at all as expected…

Anyone think of other reasons the buyback volume is so low?

Current data:

No buybacks at all this week (ignoring the 2k bought on Wednesday).

Wonder why?

bigegodid you not admit to having another advfn account for 20 years?i dont need to comment on itv updates, i told the plebs in feb 22 that itv was going to fall and the time to re-buy would be at the turn.. they laughed and held as itv fell from 123 to 56...i posted various buys earlier this year around 60p...so have another double (with twice the shares from my covid gains) to look forward to....so who is your other account?

stansmith “i see the pleb thread already given up on bigegos real identity - the bigego account was created to ramp the buy back....who could it be lol”

Erm nope. Quite simple and in the open.

I am BigEgo on LSE Chat ( 234 posts since 2020 if you bother to check ).
I created BigEgoADVFN recently here to be able to post regular buyback stats on both sites which I hope other investors find useful.

There’s little to ramp about Buyback it’s just data.

It’s a shame you are obsessed with logins and users, do you ever comment useful updates on ITV?

bc4 - "What price to get back in the FTSE?"

This gets asked a lot.

Here is a useful link, goto the "FTSE Ranking" tab.
hxxps://www.stockchallenge.co.uk/

The method for promotion/removal is not simply "top 100" rather you need to break into the 90th percentile by market cap.
So the page above shows automatic re-entry is currently around market cap 4.225bn

Then you just need to divide that by the number of voting shares out there - which changes everytime a buyback RNS comes out.

Currently then the calc would be:

4.225bn / 4,007,338,073 shares = £1.0543 to re-enter FTSE 100

It makes little impact being promoted/demoted from the FTSE 100. For every FTSE 100 tracker that is a forced buyer, there is a FTSE 250/350 tracker that is a forced seller. Think it's more or less a wash.
