20/10/2011 08:20 | Radiohead spearhead surge in vinyl sales Top 10 vinyl records of 2011 so far 1) The King Of Limbs - Radiohead 2) 21 - Adele 3) Different Gear Still Speeding - Beady Eye 4) Suck It And See - Arctic Monkeys 5) Let England Shake - PJ Harvey 6) Bon Iver - Bon Iver 7) Submarine - Alex Turner 8) Director's Cut - Kate Bush 9) Build A Rocket Boys - Elbow 10) Nevermind - Nirvana Source: The Official Charts Company More than 240,000 albums have been sold so far this year, compared to the 234,000 purchased in all 52 weeks of 2010, the Official Charts Company said. Radiohead's King Of Limbs tops the best-sellers' list, beating Adele's 21 which is the year's most popular album across all formats. The peak year for vinyl sales was 1975, when 91.6 million albums were bought. Records topping the charts that year included Elton John's first greatest hits collection, Led Zeppelin's Physical Grafitti and Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. In 2010, only 0.2% of all albums sold in the UK were on vinyl. CDs formed the bulk of the total 119.9 million sales, with digital albums accounting for 21 million. The Official Charts Company said this year is set to be the best for vinyl since 2005, when sales reached 351,000. Radiohead's position at the top of the vinyl chart is due in part to a limited edition "newspaper" edition of The King Of Limbs. This came with two heavyweight 10-inch vinyl records, specially-created artwork and 625 postage stamp-sized prints. The Oxford band, who recently revealed tour plans for 2012, have sold around 20,000 copies of their eighth album on vinyl. They are joined in the Top 10 by Arctic Monkeys, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush and Nirvana - whose reissued Nevermind has seen healthy sales in the last month. Six of the Top 10 were released by independent labels, with Domino and XL the most-represented record companies on the list | ![]() bamboo2

08/10/2011 00:41 | stand out track, bamboo yes, Steve Jobs - vague-claim-to-fame- He mocked up the advert, him doing the voice over, but there was a rumour that if Steve Jobs liked it, he would say, 'your voice is fine, you do it' (rather than get I dunno George Clooney or whatever to do it) which is what happened hence you now have all these mock-soft-Leeds accents doing the adverts, as John gave it up after a while, think he got sick of doing various translations of the same advert in dark recording booths, it was taking over his life a bit 'we've got an app for that' and then just finished reading 'Droidmaker' which is a potted history of George Lucas/Francis Coppola wanting to make the film industry digital Both 'John's' wife and I work in 3d digital graphics, so it was a who's who, amazing that it was just a handful of 10 or so people, Steve Jobs buying Pixar from ILM etc | ![]() wolterix
07/10/2011 22:38 | hi wolt, cheers for the album. just listened to it whilst catching up ont' net. great stuff. reminds me of 'parachutes' from years ago. the way tracks blend. not sure how literal the title is, but reminded me, my old mum used to say 'better to be thought a fool than to speak and prove it'. those words cost me. ignorance is bliss? never believe these three words. imo. i still feel quite shattered by steve jobs going. wierd. | ![]() bamboo2
