Agreed, for once a LTIP that is structured realistically and with meaningful targets. Not just a slam dunk giving shares away for little effort

As Sweenoid says none of us are counting our chickens and nobody with a balanced view can think IQE has turned the corner but nonetheless there are some encouraging signs now.

Couldn’t agree more Hutch 🙂
KEY for me is the award is based on the share price in 2 years time Q4 2025)
This of course ties in with IQE’s aim to treble revenues announced at the Capital Market Day presentation 9/11/22.
Our CEO is already very heavily invested with his own cash. He won’t get any of this incentive unless the share price increases by 100% and the bulk of the award will only come his way is 350% higher in 2 years time that’s the kind of incentive I like!

By the way my attitude here is best described as sanguine not Uber-optimistic! But yesterdays announcements are a definite positive and the LTIP would IMHO not be structured in the way it is without the CEO AND the board believing it’s going to be significantly vested 😂 haha

I like this incentive for Americo... 'If the 3M VWAP is between 40p and 60p, between 25% and 60% of the Award will vest on a straight-line basis. There will be no further vesting unless the 3M VWAP is at least 70p, which would result in the Award vesting in full. None of the Award will vest if the 3M VWAP is below 40p.'

I view the two recent additions as a better fit than Phil Smith. Yes he was in the technology sector with CISCO but these two are devotees to the semi-conductor space with a proven track record. They represent a more tailored fit, an encouraging sign for me at least.

As I said before, Phil Smith's appointment was viewed by many in the same way at the time.

But it's hardly been transformational. In fact, his contribution's been all but invisible.

And he's Chairman on the MAIN BOARD.

A few more ‘links’ then I will disappear till we get more news.

I see Silvers is a Swedish firm BUT their PHOTONICS business is based in Glasgow ( wireless business based in Sweden) a short drive to the Strathclyde innovation centre which is now part of the CSA catapult

CSA Scotland will draw on the considerable expertise of Strathclyde University and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), offering direct digital access to CSA Catapult facilities in South Wales, allowing companies to rapidly design and prototype advanced power electronic modules for these markets.

Also this further news on the catapult

In the release which is interesting it states “The Future Telecoms Hub will enable our PARTNERS to bring new telecoms technologies to market and allow us to continue to build supply chains, increase investment in R&D and grow the UK economy.”

Of course the catapult and compound semiconductor cluster around Newport was initiated by IQE primarily and then joined by other significant ‘partners’ close by including SPTS, Rockley British Aerospace and Newport Wafer Fab as it was.

It may be interesting for those that don’t know that the expanding CSA catapult is housed in the SAME mega factory as IQE- they are inextricably linked and both driven by a common goal.

that’s me done

Re Bami Bastani
I see since retiring from his position at GF he was been appointed as a strategic advisor to Sivers- an interesting Swedish company. It’s worth reading about Sivers and what it does.

I also like that aquantia which was a previous board appointment was acquired by Marvell in 2018

I like the fact that ALL the recent managerial and board appointments have been/ are focused entirely on the growth areas for IQE, make of this post what you will but having people on the board, respected and actively working with big potential customers is comforting

Phil Smith's "tribute" to outgoing Sir Derek Jones amused me.

Particularly the bit saying "his financial understanding (has) been hugely valuable to the company throughout his tenure".

Whatever his understanding may have been, it sure didn't help IQE make any money in the six years he was there.

The EV space needs the expansion of GAN and a push to get cheaper cars to market on the road as the adoption curve is shallowing at the moment. Especially the private buyer who isn’t getting tax breaks like company car drivers, and therefore have a choice of spending £5-6k more for equivalent PHEV or £10k + for a full electric version over the ICE

Excellent news from IQE this morning, could not be more delighted. Anyone not thinking the current ‘boss’ of TSMC Europe with her prestigious career and multiple ‘connections’ is not a superb acquisition really doesn’t understand the business.

Bami Bastami is also highly respected and has had an amazing career, again emersed in the markets IQE is focused on, he also appears to already be a shareholder here.

For two industry veterans to agree to be non-execs makes me feel more secure in this investment.

For those interested I don’t think the following link has been posted - it’s informative and encouraging especially in its bullish observations, of course I like the headline too 🙂

This is IQE saying we know we can massively increase orders and we want to back research so the sales stay high. Which is probably the view Cannacord and the CEO are taking. Yes losing money now but it hardly matters as sales will soon surge and the share price at the same time. So 20p today will be £1-2 or more in 4-5 years time.

So maybe judging IQE on the sales figures alone is wrong? Right now they need to silently get on with getting the big orders in and tell the market when there is something to actually say.

AL is betting the house on GAN, if he can pull it off we will all be grateful, however it’s by no means certain! I doubt we will hear much on the news front this year but with some momentum from 13p to here, it would be timely to get a little good news ;)

That’s a relief in view of the US shutting off any advanced tech knowledge being transferred to China. That includes European tech knowledge.
TSMC have been exempted from the rules.
AL has had no alternative but to initiate an R & D division in their sub company in Taiwan.
I imagine that the ‘new company’ in Taiwan, will be up & running at full speed within three months.
It’s the only possible way to sell their GAN wares in that region.

It was the only reason I made the post because I read about Visic Technologies partnership with IQE. It's well documented there is a lack of EV battery production in the UK. No reason IQE can't enter into new partnerships elsewhere for EV batteries. It's unclear what kind of capacity an extra 90 tools in Wales might bring to the market.

Hydrogen cars would be next to follow. 2028 to take off? Will Hydrogen kill off EV or be an alternative long term? Taken long enough for EV to try and catch up with Petrol and diesel cars. Hopefully IQE would be a part of that market too.

This is an interesting article.

guildedge - but you weren’t talking about VisIC Technologies. Nor was I.

We were both discussing Nissan.

And as you’ve reaffirmed in your latest post, no-one outside Nissan & its supply chain knows where they’re sourcing.

So as I said before, no point in speculating on this. Nor, IMHO, in providing a running commentary on Canaccord’s latest trades. Both tell us nothing concrete about IQE.

It's hardly specualtion IQE is working with VisIC Technologies that is helping with EV parts in the UK. Question is if Nissan will also be using VisIC Technologies or if sourcing from abroad. It would make sense to source from a factory in the UK to avoid import taxes. Of course IQE may be 12-24+ months from production.

Of course if IQE could capture a large part of this market I would expect it to be more than just the UK. No reasons why they couldn't supply whole of Europe or other countries.

So no real point in speculating.
