Another frigin research project & it goes down , could have guessed that one jam tomorrow. I mean 850k for the project is peanuts considering some of Big names on the list . We really need revenue making collaboration announcement, hopefully we will get them on Wednesday.

Yes shame it could not hold it's gains but there is bound to be volatility pre results. If I had bought sub 60p a few weeks ago I might be tempted to top slice and that's probably what we are seeing today.

We just need the right sort of whisper, shouted loudly over the rooftops in the forward looking statement. I liked the one from two years ago stating that we may have to revise forecast upwards...that seemed to do the trick.

A few highlights from the announcement made earlier

I was not aware of the iBROW project, IQE was a main contributor and if you look at this final synopsis of that project , it confirms that IQE was able to successfully grow RTD’s on Silicon, without which of course nothing would have been achieved, can anyone else do that, it appears not.



This is confirmed in the short video at the bottom of this link which is interesting and of course in the RNSNONS



The KEY statement for me is this

5G networks will function across an unprecedented frequency range from traditional cellular bands to millimetre wave. IQE offers a powerful array of materials solutions enabling 5G, including enhanced efficiency GaAs HBT PAs, novel RF filter products utilising IQE's proprietary cREO technology, and high performance switches for mobile devices, GaN HEMTs for wireless infrastructure, InP products for high-speed oscillators and photodiodes, and many more. This DLINK program is another example of how compound semiconductors produced by IQE will continue to fuel the connected world as it transitions to 5G platforms."

This would suggest that the cREO technology which we know has been in advanced ‘testing’ and ‘prototype development’ , with multiple partners,might be more advanced than the market realises. Certainly any use of the cREO TECH IN 5G enabled smartphone filters is now almost a ‘holy grail’ target for IQE , as it could triple our wireless income within 12-24 months ( according to multiple IQE comments at AGM’s) combined that, with our Al Nitride single cell wafer ability, makes things very exciting. Of course every mention of upcoming GAN technology is also very positive.

This from their latest investor presentation:-Based on its enviable combination of experience, product portfolio and reputation, Filtronic is ready to take advantage of the move to 5G as a trusted implementation partner.• Massive MIMO will enable 3D Beamforming a fundamental technique to enable capacity increases envisaged by 5G.w Filtronic has developed and is delivering its first Massive MIMO project for a Tier 1 OEM.• The utilisation of 3.4 - 4.2GHz gives a major opportunity for Filtronic and this frequency range is expected to account for 90% of deployments.w Due to the relative short range of RF at frequencies of about 3.5GHz, there will be a requirement for many more sites and potentially as many as 1 million antennas in the UK alone.w Filtronic has developed the core antenna designs for this frequency and has the filtering knowhow.• The higher 26 - 28GHz frequencies require fundamentally different equipment and manufacturing techniques than traditional sub-6GHz. I don’t think it will be as volatile as some suggest, but although I’d be delighted to revisit the 60s one more time, I very much doubt it will happen

Isn't most of pension that's got to last me until I'm 110+ enough of a bet??? ;-)

We have expected long term high gains versus market with vision shorter than intervals between coffee breaks!
I foresee lots of smoke, so will stand back and wait for it to blow over, to view with clarity. :-)
Whilst NDA's may prevent specific comment at time, company are entitled, likely even legally obligated, to comment on aggregated sales etc, so figures should provide insight as to whether reality is in alignmet with expectations.
I wonder to what extent new CFO will be compiling results and commentary.
He may be figurehead, but doubt he has had the time to get under the skin just yet.
