James: Maybe... buyers are those with medium to long view.
Sellers are short horizon/traders, who want to buy and sell many times in the next few months to make multiple small turns producing (in their eyes) a hopefully greater net return.
Also, if they are pro's, they may not like sitting on their bottom all day doing now't and have more fun trading...with other peoples money.
In my cynical opinion ;-)

>I can confirm that we do not lend any of your shares to third parties.

I see they say "your" shares.
That is not to say they don't do it for other clients.

My reply from YouInvest was
"...It is a legitimate allowable practice, however we, nor any of our group companies enter into these facilities or ever have done.”

so a more global open statement.

I comment for clarity, between the two of us, I know others here have different views on acceptance of various practices.

We have recently seen some relatively large trades go through that have not significantly moved the needle on the share price. I can understand why people might buy at this price but it implies that people are happy to sell at this price otherwise the price would have moved up to a level that they are happy to sell at (assuming that price is genuinely determined by market pressures....).

Who then is selling at this price given that we have had no recent notifications from the major shorters? Is it institutions offloading some shares?? I can't see why they would at this price when the outlook looks pretty rosy....

The shorting reporting system it seems as transparent and truthful as the Libor system once was. Time for shake-up and reform.

There have been questions raised here concerning the "loaning out" of our shares by Nominee holders for shorting purposes. I asked Hargreaves Lansdowne if my IQE shares have been loaned out by them and received this reply today:"Thank you for your email. The Shares currently held within your HL Stocks & Shares ISA and HL Fund & Share Account are currently held electronically in nominee format. A nominee is a person or firm into whose name securities or other properties are transferred to facilitate transactions, while leaving the customer as the actual owner. A nominee account is a type of account in which a stockbroker holds shares belonging to clients, making buying and selling those shares easier.I can confirm that we do not lend any of your shares to third parties. Please ensure you have read and understood the Key Features and Terms and Conditions of the HL Service.I hope this has been of assistance to you. Should you have any further queries, please view our Help and Support centre or contact me on 0117 900 9000.Kind regards,Freddie DolcezzaInvestment Helpdesk ConsultantHargreaves Lansdown"

Hope you're right squire about the shorts, but I haven't seen any evidence from the FCA over the last couple of days to support your view. Same old culprits, and same old percentages.

Remember the shorts lie big time about their exit ....

Imagine what would happen if they told the truth, the last few million they needed to buy would be 180p ... tick tock ...

the dog fight continues slowly but surely ;-)

For some reason I feel very confident about this share at the moment having halved in price from the giddy heights of 180 p. I wonder if the shorts have moved over to vrs

Sailastra he did stress that you do your own research but also shared his own, usually with a positive interpretation but not always.

Tomduck. I disagree,He accessed the most recent relevant research and announcements from our end users and competitors and shared that with the board.

Clockwork. Did you read the other part of my post

Sweenoid has a good feel for the technology as well as for the prospects ahead. He might have been ahead of the game re valuation but that is a very difficult area as it depends on sentiment as much as anything, for now. Full year figures will ,if good, support the next push up.

I fail to understand why Sweenoid attracts so much adverse comment, especially from the likes of the broken clock. After all he always stressed that people should do their own research.

If I have a worry, it would be how capital intensive the business proves to be...

"I feel the corner has turned here. Much more positive feel to the board, clowns leaving for pastures new."

"We might even tempt the sweenoid back" -End-

That was from a post of yours on 13-Feb, IQE share price 112p. A week or so later it had soared to 139p.

Whether Sweeney read your plea at the time and swiftly reappeared I can't remember, but he did return AGAIN and was welcomed back with open arms.

When he reads your, "I'm sure Sweenoid can be tempted back if we all ask him nicely", might work - go ahead and ask him nicely. I'll bet he's loving all this attention. LOL!

Seems the shorters have forgotten to turn their BOTS on today, but so have all the buyers! Very quiet short far today

It’s clear Sweenoid ain’t gonna be back anytime soon, so pointless wasting your breath. Besides the only person on here who has realword tech knowledge about IQE is Sheep Herder from what I have read. Sweenoid seems to have been more of a cheerleader /supporter for IQE. Why don’t you all concentrate on your own investment, do your own research?

Grity. I think you are mistaken thinking he will be back but don’t see why it matters.

grity, as Sweeney has retired - AGAIN! [for the 10th time?], why not ask Sheep-Herder - he's even better when it comes to the technical side of things.
