Agreed I very much doubt we will see 70s again, feel happy with my holding and that the shorting enabled several large top ups. In a few years this will mount up to some sizeable £s. Happy days.

Speaking of shorts, how many shares do they need to buy back? 😳😱

Mr Crunistein I still dont believe you took a hit of 40k on IQE. You just moaned in a different way. If in case you did take a hit you will soon be pulling something that is half dead and hanging.lol

I'm pretty sure he said he shorted it this morning. Not sure I believe anything he says though.

If Crunk shorted this in the 90s or lower then it shows what an amateur he is.

More worrying is that he invested in VRS which frightens me as he is the precursor to share disasters...

Sell while you still can. To be honest I went short because I know all share prices do exactly the opposite of whatever I do I just wanted to help you. Did i miss something. Dodgy Drew appoint a CFO while I was having an afternoon nap?

YupI bought Acorn for 8p. I waited a day after i spotted it when it was 5p! I was cross with myself. Even so £500 turned into £40,000

Agreed, I think high 70s will be seen to have been the bottom, thankfully.

Making a bullish engulfing candle here, just about. Early signs, but looking healthier.

geraldus - thanks for clarifying. In the case of ARM, I think it was a question of Softbank making them an offer they couldn't refuse (& - perhaps wrongly - the government saw fit not to intervene). I remember buying some ARM shares at 95p, though my average buy price was in the low £s... Anyhow, it finally seems to be dawning on people this afternoon that all is far from lost with IQE. In fact, we could have a blue finish.

Not at all lord loads,it should be a win win situation but not without a bumpy ride.As for ARM I remember when it was spun out of Acorn which you could have bought for pennies.

geraldus - You make it sound like ARM was a failure. It got taken over by Softbank for over £24bn, a 43% premium to its last closing price. I'd settle for that with IQE.

No idea where the bottom lies, and to be honest I don't care. Investing is about finding good companies whose current share price is likely to be significantly higher within the next few years. No one can predict the short term fluctuations that happen in the absence of news. I'm a happy holder and have been topping up recently; I'd be confident that share price will be a lot higher in a year or two.

Had some today. If it doesn't do what it should do then there is a good chance it will go the same way as ARM .

Ditched the limit order for 76 and had a modest top up around 81. Always dangerous to call the bottom but I reckon that was it.

Now averaging at £1, happy with that.

Great article above, thanks - common sense at last. coming from Cannacord:

"IQE is now qualified with 24 VCSEL chip companies and we estimate that only three or four of these are, or will become, Apple suppliers. This leaves around 20 suppliers for the Android ecosystem and many other, potentially much larger, non-smartphone markets."

With IQE having only addressed Apple, which has around 15% of the global smartphone market, next year the AIM-listed company "can start to address the other 85%".

With IQE shares now on a P/E for 2019 below 20x, he reiterated his 'buy' recommendation and 190p target price."

Hopefully we won't go too much lower after the positive news released by apple last night and the broker notes out today. Yes the interims were disappointing but that's all in the past now. Fingers crossed that sentiment changes soon and investors start to focus on the future & not the past. Too many good things ahead for this company we all know. This is no Carillion, it ain't going to zero that's for sure. This creates a dilemma for the hedge fund managers who are sitting on big profits at the moment. Do they risk giving it all back like a lot of us here did or do they bank their profits and move on. I'd like to think one of them will crack and then the others will be falling over themselves trying to buy back. Eighty odd million shares ain't gonna be an easy find that's for sure. I've topped up this afternoon...GLA.

Canaccord:

A very bullish note from them. Well worth a read. Seems the fund managers are reading it too...just turned positive.
