Not quite what the doctor ordered: An Andrea Leadsome visit to the plant, not the best PR? Good pic though.

No of course not. There is nothing you can do to prevent a share being shorted and anyone can take a short position,

Guys why do you insist on stating it's the shorters who are driving the price down?

This makes you look really amateurish. It's down because Mr Market wanted more on the latest TU.

chess, hate to do this but I think it's you who needs to read up on 5G and IoT, specifically NB-IoT which is the cellular standard through which IoT devices will use. And it's anything but fast with a 200kbit/s peak rate.

However, cellular is definitely not the only way IoT devices will communicate. There are already mass installations using low power wireless/mesh networks such as Bluetooth, LoRaWAN, the unlicensed ISM bands, etc.

Just look at the city wide street light installations or HVAC and building control that doesn't use cellular.

If you place a sell order at say 250p with intention of preventing your holding being loaned out but the broker has already got them out on loan when the price was at say 120p, what happens to the shorter? Does the shorter have to repay the broker the difference prevailing?

Thanks for the reply Sheep Herder.

My thoughts on Samsung are mainly for them to get a higher degree of certainty and control in the production process. There seems to be a lengthy process facilitating customer orders and requirements. IQE are constrained by the number of machines they have. If Samsung are moving into all these end markets with exponential growth, they may want to move wafer production forward more aggressively. They may become IQE’s biggest customer by a long shot. It would make sense to me for Samsung to take ownership of IQE if they are going to be such an important part of their future plans. It’s because IQE have around 80% of the VSCEL wafer market that is important, rather than controlling the manufacturing all the way through start to finish. If IQE wasn’t managed appropriately it could create big problems for Samsung in the future.

To me the AMS article isn’t clear and the CEO talks bullishly about casting his net far in search of opportunities. Admittedly, he talks mostly about differentiation but then also in general terms about chipmakers and increasing the value of parts it puts into devices. Again, they are looking to get a dominant position in exponential growth markets, so the points i was making with regards to Samsung i would apply to a lesser extent to AMS. But i think AMS would be attracted more by the weaker pound as it is obviously has limited financial strength compared to Samsung.

Do you see IQE simply as succeeding or failing on it’s own merits, even further down the line? What about when Drew Nelson is looking to retire?

How can the share price keep getting pushed down, when buys are far larger than sells! The shorters algos??

"There is absolutely no evidence for the first and the second is untrue. The IOT was talked about well before 5g was even mooted and elements of it such as lighting control have been around for a few years and work perfectly well on 4g and wifi."

That depends on your definition of evidence. For me the fact that this stock is one of the most sorted on AIM, plus the defamatory reports released which influenced the price, plus the consistent loaning of shares from institutions, and the rinse-and-repeat chart pattern over the last 6months... all suggest to me that some level of manipulation is taking place.

Lighting control?!? You have a funny concept of what is meant by the IoT, I suggest you research a bit, then you might realise why 5G is a pre-requisite to the REAL IoT (hint; it will rely on high-speed mass data collection and transfer).

I have just spoken to Barclays stock brokers.
