Sweenoid and sheep herder know much more about IQE than I do. However, what is clear is that it is in a phase of very high growth, is building new facilities and appears to be a market leader in a fast developing, high growth sector. And what price do you put in high, sustainable growth in the current environment? Yes, a lot can go wrong when you are buying based on future growth. But if half of our hopes for IQE come true, what sort of profits could it be generating in 2019, or 2024? That is the question.

Just read the trading statement FFS. I can't remember the precise phrase, but it was very cautiously written and ended up saying there were prospects of significant exceeding of expectations from next year. It was about the most bullish statement you could ever see.

Big, why would you buy on anyones's advice unless it's from someone with proven track record? From memory you seem to change colors far too often, around 50 you came out negative and positive again as price rose. From last fall you've seemed to have become pessimistic again. Any investor will due his due diligence and invest accordingly. Market is about future prospects and they don't change day to day.

The share price is very high if you look at historic EPS....But not so if you look forward to 2018 where forecasts are in the region of 15p...figures due September will cast light on the validity of those numbers..
Read post 4419 and then all recent from that poster you will begin to see through the fog.....

I haven't seen much hype here.

Purely recognition of the way technology and trends are moving, and IQE's role within those advances.

Data usage is multiplying and will continue to do so for the forseeable future.

Internet infrastructure will need constant upgrading to increase speed and capacity

Mobile phones will consume more and more of our time and money.

Augmented Relaity WILL take off in a huge way accessible from ALL smartphones and tablets in time.

cars and other vehicles WILL become more and more automatic / autonomous.

Internet of Things will happen (yes really)

Robotics, Clean energy, LED lighting, Solar power, Energy saving etc etc will all surge in importance.

Compound Semiconductors (CS) are at the heart of all these new technologies. And IQE are at the heart of CS.

To all newbies. As sheep herder said, for a quick guide to all things IQE simply use the word sweenoid in the search box and read as far back as you want to. You will learn all you need to know in order to make up your mind on what you want or need to know. Sep 5 is H1 results which may lead to further analyst upgrades.

Crank up the vols, these will test the 150p resistance soon but not sure if they have the fuel required to break through that level, patience required.

Thank you Big7ime, sheep_herder. And I have done my research and I am involved in this sector. I know they are heavily involved in the compound semiconductor catapult and a good company. It just seems - a little high right now, thats all.

gareth, EPS next year a minimum of 8p and doubling the next year as the VCSEL market takes off.

Hi All,

First time posting. I am not trying to cause any friction, but just improve my learning.

How is IQE valued at circa £1 billion. Am I missing something? It seems that this value is purely speculative.

Is there something glaring I am missing?
