Yep "the market" is clearly expecting very good results and a bullish statement. Not sure if that's enough to keep the price from falling on result with profit taking as is more often than not and could be very volatile. Exciting all the same, look forward to tomorrow..

Sticking to IQE, the only 'guesstimates' that are important are the updated analyst guesses on 2016's results, the post trading statement consensus is what the 'market' will use to judge the results
For a reminder for all, the Guesstimate consensus is
Revenue £129 million
Fully diluted EPS 2.88p
Pre tax profit PBT £20.3 million
Debt - figures vary but average £35million ( reflecting increased CAPEX and negative effect of strong $)

These are the figures to dwell on , quite how the £/$ affects the results will need a forensic accountant so I will not be bothering, I trust the CFO will seek to provide clarity!

IQE are at the Optical Networking and communications conference in LA tomorrow, wouldn't it be nice to get some positive licensing/partner news on the day of results?

Too much 'noise' here at present, so I will only post twice tomorrow, before trading starts and after market close. I expect to be happy tomorrow:-)

Big day tomorrow folks and no real sustained downward pressure on the share price suggests to me that expectations are high for good figures. I was fearful of a large shorting position being taken but that has not materialised so quietly optimistic that post results the share price will not take a hit.

Hey guys/gals,Whilst researching all things IQE I came across a NASDAQ listed stock MVIS, microvision, who claim to have the smallest form factor pico projection unit. A few days ago their share price gained about 15% when they recorded a contract win with a south East Asian smartphone manufacturer! Maybe worth a look although I haven't crunched any numbers yet!

I use the word predator loosely, simply an acquirer of shares, obviously there is a chance that at some point IQE might get bid for but possibly not in the short term.
Secondly not sure that the vast majority of shares are held by that many institution as yet. Thirdly if we take ARM as an example. It was taken out at 24bn that's 4,400 times the IPO price. So a 50% rise makes no difference to a take over price, Big7, as that would be set at a premium the current share price reflecting a perception of value to the acquirer for example £120

Can anyone who thinks IQE will be taken over describe the business case for such a move?

Do you not think a takeover would have occurred when the price was a quarter of what it is now or do you think that the industry is so in the dark, nobody knew what Iqe was or what it does.

Can't see that sailastra, most stock will be held by institutions probably for the longer term. Stop losses for pi's are important but you have to review them. A predator would probably buy a large block from one of the major holders and then go to market at a premium to get as much as they can. Personally I do not see a takeover anytime soon, I think the diversification works against that imo.

Big7, I'm at £135m with FX impact, but think this might be light. I wouldn't be surprised if the figure is nearer to your original £150m than my £135m

ST ToF Sensor in iPhone 7
Chipworks discovered a ToF proximity sensor, apparently made by ST, next to the front camera in iPhone 7:

"...when we looked at the selfie camera side and took out the sub-assembly, both the ambient light sensor and the LED/sensor module were different from those in the 6s model.

When we took them off and looked at the module, it looked very STMicroelectronics-ish to us. Looking at the die, it is not the same, but definitely similar in style and die numbering (S2L012AC) to the VL53L0/S3L012BA die with the two SPAD arrays, however this time the LED is bonded on top of the ToF die to give a very compact module.

I think this is the link which was posted earlier by someone here which mentions AMS:

Sweenoid et al,It was touted in some report I read recently that AMS could be a direct beneficiary if 3D sensing was built into the iphone8. There is a lot of stuff on the Princeton website that directly relates to phone sensing, 3D, project tango etc. Well worth a bit a Sunday afternoon research. Looks like they manufacture the vcsel modules but who supplies the vcsel wafers?

Edit to my post 1342

EDIT: must have been a yr ahead of myself sorry (have a thick head cold) I meant 130m sales, tripling of iR profit. Trying to justify the quadrupling share price in just over a yr. nobody (apart from a few of us here) wanted to know when it had p/e of six

Thanks

Care: Also, these results (revenue etc) should be compared to 2014
Remember 2015 was a pretty poor one
