14/3/2017 13:05 | With the onset of Augmented reality and 3D sensing in phones, our photonics business with greater margins than the wireless business could be the target of a possible takeover here! Augmented reality is going to be huge and Tim Cook( Apple CEO) has already hinted it's the next 'technology' bigger than the smartphone! Autonomous vehicles in the future will need this tech and Intel have just bought an Israeli company that specialises in this field. Google maps in the future will not only be able to give 'street view' but with Augmented reality 'homeview' 'officeview' 'supermarketview' and we are the ones who will be mapping it for them from our handheld devices all powered by photonics wafers! This is going to be the next 'revolution' in the mobile device market! | ![]() tomyumgoong

14/3/2017 12:13 | No. It's still textbook linear. There are plenty of web articles describing exponential curves in case there's any doubt. | ![]() hammerd2

14/3/2017 11:51 | Interesting comments on fevertree, I totally missed that one writing it off as overhyped. Duh!! I'm now investing in Dis hoping for similar results with gin and rum fashions. IQE is doing well but I'm watching closely as it seems a bit toppy. Of course a takeover will make it take off like a rocket😄 | ![]() moormoney

14/3/2017 09:16 | Why don't we have a list of all the successful stocks that have multi-multi bagged. That would be useful. Forget any business model comparisons for the time being. Oh alright, perhaps not... What have these got in common ? ASOS Fevertree Gear4music PS You're not allowed to answer if you've ever set up and run a successful business. | ![]() yump

13/3/2017 20:39 | It would be nice if IQE was rated at a Historic PE of 131 dropping to a still eye watering 70+. Fever tree is surely priced to perfection at these levels but still excellent investing by your son S. | ![]() blueflame
13/3/2017 16:38 | a lesson for 'dad' when the IQE share price was 25p , I advised my 3 kids to invest in IQE- I would cover any loss they incurred, so it was a risk free punt , which they all took up :-) :-) My eldest son is pretty savvy, has a great job,Whilst home for Xmas he told me he had an investment in a tonic water company and it was doing well, he bought in after seeing their adverts on the underground, researching it and thinking they were brilliant ( They were!). Anyhow the company was called Fevertree, I researched them and saw the massive rise in share price , at that time the share price was just over £10 and had a brilliant run, I adviced him COMPLETELY WRONGLY to take some profits- that run could never continue Today it smashed through the £15 barrier and shows no sign of slowing down, he still holds full holdings in IQE and Fevertree- good on him. Have a think ...what can happen when a good proposition is met with positive sentiment here is the chart S | ![]() sweenoid
13/3/2017 15:59 | The outlook statement will be interesting, if there are more clues on photonics growth. If its accelerating, there should be more information than the last time photonics was mentioned. | ![]() yump

13/3/2017 15:16 | Rivaldo, thanks, there is so much going on at the moment with compound semiconductor requirements. Time will tell where IQE are picking up business, but they have been telling us for a few years now that this was going to happen, and with Photonics they now have a 2nd major revenue stream. I think within the next 12 months it will overtake Wireless as it's biggest business unit. The clues are out there.... | ![]() poombear
13/3/2017 14:29 | Skyworks to benefit from (1) LTE growth and (2) auto/IOT sector growth: I particularly like this excerpt: "Gaining traction in automotive Skyworks is also targeting automotive and machine-to-machine applications with the Ultra 2.5 chip family. Carlos Bori, the vice president of sales and marketing for Skyworks, says: "We are pleased to broadly offer this flexible system solution in response to growing smartphone demand in China as well as the need for highly integrated solutions across adjacent automotive and machine-to-machine applications." Until last year, Skyworks only had a few contracts in the auto segment. Its deal with LG Electronics to power the infotainment system in the Volkswagen Group's vehicles was the highlight of this business in 2016. LG will use eight Skyworks chips, including front-end modules, to deliver location-based connectivity and other IoT (Internet of Things) applications such as smart-home controls. The LG deal could be a big win for Skyworks, as Volkswagen is the world's largest automaker and is moving swiftly to connect its cars to the internet. The good part is that Skyworks' automotive business seems to be gaining traction. It landed a strategic design win at a "leading U.S. electric car OEM" in the recently concluded quarter. Though Skyworks did not name this particular client, as of now, there is only one company leading the field in electric cars in the U.S. Additionally, Samsung is using Skyworks' automotive solutions to enable remote diagnostics." | ![]() rivaldo
